Guilty pleasures. We've all got them, even if we don't always want to admit them. Movies, TV shows, games, etc, that we know logically are bad... but we like them anyways.

Note, I'm NOT talking about "so bad it's good", or anything involving irony. The Room and Birdemic are NOT things we should be seeing in this thread.

Me? Well... frankly, I like the Digimon Movie. Yes, that one:

Yes, I'm aware of the horrendous dub. Yes, I know they changed all the music. Yes, I know the movie is basically a frankenstein of three difference movies. Yes, I know the Japanese version is better.

And yet, I still love this movie. Even if only for one scene. The single, greatest curb-stomp fight in the history of anything. I STILL get chills down my spine, every time I watch this part:

I will forever defend the awesomeness of this scene. And the part with Greymon in the beginning of the movie isn't far behind, either.

Captcha: that escalated quickly

Why yes Captcha, it did.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I just realized that you can't have a guilty pleasure thread without mentioning this:

Alrighty!

I enjoy the hell out of the Spice Girls movie.

Yes, I know the 'plot' is absurd, the acting was a bit shit, and it's the Spice Girls. But, for whatever reason, I love that movie and I just so happened to watch it about a month ago. It's a silly movie, but I think what makes it great is that they know it's silly and just run with it.

The inside of their tour bus makes me laugh every time. :D

In terms of anime, which is the major focus of my existence here in this universe, my guilty pleasures have been literal guilty pleasures. Not things I "liked ironically", but things I literally feel guilty about liking. Campione and Btooom! would fall into that category.

There are some games I like in a "I like this because reasons" kind of way. Anyone ever play...these?

Best games ever, amirite?

I'll be honest. I really like Charmed. You know the late 90's to early 2000's tv show about the three witch sisters. Yeah...

Digimon Movie Snip!
That one is kind of a guilty pleasure for me too, especially since I'm into animation and that was one of the first movies I'd ever seen that had cel-shaded CG animation for the action scenes, and the silky-smoothness of it blew my 8-year old mind. I liked the worldwide virus story the most, as it felt rather grounded while still feeling like Digimon.

...I love musicals.

Moulin Rouge is my super guilty pleasure. I freaking LOVE that movie and am amazed at how great a voice Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman has (supposedly it is them actually singing).

I should buy the soundtrack again. What a great movie...

I absolutely ADORE One Piece and Fairy Tail.

I usually hate those kind of really long and drawn out shonen anime, since I despise things like Naruto and Bleach, but I can't stop watching One Piece and I can't wait for the next season of Fairy Tail. They're just so silly and awesome. I started watching One Piece when they were somewhere around episode 400 (around the Impel Down arc), and I managed to catch up to it within 2 months, meaning I was watching at least 7 episodes of it a day (and I was in college at the time, so free time was quite limited).

Mean Girls is one of the best mainstream comedies to have come out in the 21st century. There, I said it.

I'm not shy about it, exactly, but I'm neither am I publicly proclaiming the awesomeness of ponies. I also understand completely how people get burned out by it, which is why I generally don't talk about it, even on forums like this.

I may not like what Halo may (or may not) have done to the gaming community by bringing in the "dudebro" and all of their faults, buuuut I like the games themselves.
I can't really say the same for Call of Duty or Battlefield - every time I hear anyone talk about Call of Duty, my brain goes into standby mode - but I can at least appreciate how well it works as an FPS. Simplicity in beauty, or something like that.

I... l-l-mmmmmmm... damn, this one is tough to get out.
I understand that no genre of any form of entertainment is going to be perfect, at first. At first, dubstep - ALL of dubstep - sounded utterly wrong to me. I know I sound horribly snobbish when I say that, I'm very aware it's a flaw I have, but that's just how it was. Only recently, though, I've started to hear dubstep that I actually sorta lllllll... You know. That word. Not love, way too strong, still.

Urrite

For me its...

...

wow..

I guess i really don't have one.

In special cases I don't mention my liking of something.

But that is too few and far between to really count as a Guilty Pleasure.

I guess my guilty pleasure is that there is little I don't like, Hell before i was active online i would joke that my tastes were so diverse that you could find Kingdom Heard next to Call of Duty in my collection, because before I got to late high school I never found an over lap in those tastes of the people I met.

Hmmm, nothing specific, but I am a huge sucker for a good romance in story. I don't like it when romances ARE the story, but I do love it when two characters I like fall in love. Some shows I'd like normally anyway, I like INFINITELY more because the romance is that compelling for me. Hell, the shitty romance is what ruined House for me. I was elated when him and Cuddy hooked up (despite the kind of weird way it happened), but the break-up was just SHIT. Not just because I personally didn't want it, but really mostly because it was just SHIT writing. Jeez. I couldn't watch it after that.

My favorite on-screen couple right now is Shawn and Juliet in Psych. Finding out that the actors who play them are ALSO dating just made it that much better. :D

So do I. I fucking love Fairy Tail and I think One Piece is almost as good (the arcs and fights are drawn out a bit too long though)

This isn't how it's sung,
but this just is how things go.
The bass is too high
and the beat - too - slow.

I don't have any explanation for why I like this plodding, overblown and masturbatory mess of a song... I just do.

I have to agree with this one. I am not sure if I liked the change it took towards the last few seasons where it got ultra serious, but I enjoyed it most of the time, I still do.

I also thought the Digimon movie was pretty good.

Well..<youtube=zP50Ewh31E4>

I love this song. I dunno why. I mostly listen to metal/hard rock/blues, and just fucking adore this song.

The bass and everything.

I was gonna go with "I read/enjoy slash fanfics" or (at least on this site) "I like Pop songs. Justin Timberlake is fun to dance to." but this one is good too. Don'tkillmeplease.
Ewan McGregor is damned sexy in it and I make no apologies.

I don't really feel guilty about any of my pleasures, slthough I hsve a few that would definitely fall into the category I enjoy the Star Wars prequels as well as the J.J Abrhams Star Trek movies, I like Naruto, and the Spartacus TV series, (both of which I've been told I should feel bad for liking) I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, and no amount of the internet telling me not to will change that, I like the movie Rent, (never got the chance to see it on stage) I can sit through Spider-Man 3 quite contently (especially after seeing "The Amazing Spiderman") and...there are probably more but I don't feel guilty about any of them

English Dubs (recently the Fairy Tail dub), dubstep (I like fast paced music), scantily clad women (I like boobs), and style over practicality (I like awesome looking things, even if it wouldn't work properly).

Plus anything from the 90's is boss, Digimon, Pokemon, Charmed, anything Will Smith was in, just shows/movies that I watched during my childhood. I am the Paragon of Poor Taste.

I was actually going to make this exact thread, but minus "guilty pleasure" and just "Things the internet as a whole considers 'bad' but you like anyway".

I agree with a lot of the things mentioned in the thread already.

Nothing wrong with liking musicals, my friend! Moulin Rouge is a fantastic film, even beyond the fact that it's a poppy musical. Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables, practically every Disney film ever made... hell yeah!

Also agreed with Digimon, but I'll add the show too. The first two seasons have abysmal English translations and hilariously stilted voice acting, with some of the weirdest lightning-fast pacing somehow mixed with filler that would make Dragonball Z blush, and some of the animation reminds me of how the classic Enterprise always moved in the original Star Trek series, the way it just glides across the screen like some sort of paper doll, but I love it anyway. I do think The Movie actually stands up as pretty decent on its own, though.

And I would be remiss to post in this thread without giving a mention to the Star Wars prequels.
