Okay Escapists. You are getting older and suddenly you have a lot of money to spend due to winning twenty huge lotteries consecutively (you got lucky one year). You've found a partner in life and maybe you want some kids. You want a house. The house that will be your grave home until you are wheeled into a retirement home if you're lucky. This is the luxurious dream home of your wildest imagination come true.
What kind of house and where? Any specific cities you like over others? Include colour preferences, size, interior design or any other details you can think of.
Myself?
A very old house in Switzerland. I like buildings with history and there are houses in Switzerland that are probably three times as old as my home province. The outside would be authentic.
Inside however... I want to have a large game room in the basement, all black walls with a mini-bar and hot tub in one corner. On the main floor I would have a medium sized kitchen and as big a family room as possible. Lots of comfortable chairs and couches and a carpet there. Second floor would have 4 bedrooms of equal size, each one with a different colour and theme, a spacious bathroom. Everywhere besides the family room and the bedrooms would have stone tiles for flooring. The third floor would have a large library, a music room all furnished with wooden walls and a number of rooms for storage.
The yard would have a flower garden along the entire front of the house with pine trees planted around the fence. The back would have some fruit bearing trees, a playground with a swing, a small garden and a pond.
Oh and the best commercial home security system available at the time of the renovations.
*sighs*
I'll never have that kind of money nor do I ever think I'd ever really want to leave Canada enough to do have that. Still, that would be a very cool place to raise a family.
So, do you have any ideas for yours? Mine was grounded in some reality but feel free to be as wacky as you want. You're rich, they'll build whatever you ask them to.
