So, there are always those challenges in gaming that just seem impossible. You try and try and try, but it seems like you'll never beat it. But then you do, and it is GLORIOUS.

Recently, I managed to do something I've been wanted to do for awhile now: I beat the last boss of the boss rush stage in Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood. For those unaware, Prinny 2 is a platformer in the Ghouls and Ghosts mold, where once you jump, you have no momentum, and is EXTRAORDINARILY difficult.

I bought the game awhile back, but got stuck near the end. See, near the end of the game, you have to beat a boss rush. Now, the boss rush itself wasn't the problem. It's what happens right after it. Once you clear the boss rush, you have to beat 100 copies of youself. Yes, 100 copies. And they have all the same abilities as you. And if you die, the counter resets and you have to start ALL over again. And they swarm you.

This section is OBNOXIOUSLY difficult, but after picking up the game again, I FINALLY managed to beat it (after about 80 deaths). This is an accurate demonstration of my reaction:

So yeah, I'm glad I finally beat that son-of-a-***** boss fight... although now I'm stuck on the final boss (who shoots out so many fireballs and lasers, you think he came from a shoot-em-up designed by Vegeta. The final boss is even tougher than I thought!)

What about the rest of you? Had any recent "finally!" moments?

Well I've just beaten Bioshock Infinite on hard mode. And boy did it live up to it's name on a lot of parts.

The siren fights (particularly the one in the bank) were a fucking nightmare in a half. I tried using my old strategy through holding down Return to Sender to block all the shots her cronies fire at me while I blast her, but it only puts me in the line of fire once I throw it.

After about four or so tries, I decided to just use the Crows/Devil's Kiss combo and repeatedly nuked her and her undead hoard. Felt satisfying once I found that actually worked.

So yeah, I have no idea how much harder 1999 mode is like, and I'm sorta afraid to find out. :p

Haven't quite finished yet, and I'm sure plenty of people are going to scoff about how "it's not that hard, sheesh", but I'm about 3/4ths of the way through 1999 Mode in Bioshock Infinite now.

Also beating any Devil May Cry game on Dante Must Die when I'm out of practice after having not played a game in the franchise for a year or two...

And I'm sure I'm going to get that feeling a few times during my "Give Me Deus Ex" play-through of Human Revolution.

I don't usually play games on the "hard" difficulty, you see.

And obligatory "Everything in Demon's/Dark Souls" response.

The most recent hurdle was beating 1999 mode without buying anything from Dollar Bill in Bioshock Infinite. Because I'm an achievement junkie. It was actually harder than getting Brass Balls in the first Biohshock, take that as you will. But it wasn't as hard as doing a solo, legendary, Library run in the original Halo.

Edit: Holy crap! The catchpa was "yadda yadda yadda". I typed in "radda radda radda" and it worked!

I beat Devil May Cry 4 on Heaven or Hell mode once. Then a few months later my gamertag got hacked on xbox live, and their solution was to delete it and give me a new one, with no gamer score or achievements attached to it. I really don't give a shit about achievements or anything, but it pissed me off to no end that I would never again have proof that I beat Heaven or Hell.

For those of you who don't know, in Heaven or Hell mode you kill every enemy in one hit (even bosses), but in return if you get hit by anything you die and have to restart. It's the second hardest mode in the game.

That sounds both hilarious and frustrating at the same time.

I managed to beat Morrowind on the hardest difficulty in under 10 minutes.
I beat Dark Souls only using my left hand.
I beat Shadow Dragon on 5 star Lunatic.
If you know what to do you can beat Morrowind even faster than that. I think the record is like 4 minutes or something. Got to love the Scroll of Icarian Flight.

OT: I just beat Fire Emblem: Awakening on Hard, though it was only really difficult for the first five or six battles. I am considering trying Lunatic Mode.

The hardest thing I have beaten in recent memory was Hard Mode Abyss in BlazBlue CSE. Holy fucking shit Unlimited Mu is a nightmare. She can kill you in one combo if you are not careful. Took me like two hours to beat her.

Hell and hell is even more hilarious and frustrating. Enemies all have normal health (or is it hard mode health?), but you die in one hit.

OT: For me it was beating the space boss in Rocket Knight Adventures on hard. Then again I was exploiting a blindspot when I finally beat it...

I'm currently trying for a one-life run in Contra: hard Corps. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that it actually IS impossible, though :']

Mua ha ha! I beat BioShock Infinite's 1999 mode. I was doing fine, nothing too hard, until I fought the freaking ghost! RAGE! FURY! Forty-five minutes of playing the same section of graveyard gameplay over and over and OVER! I finally just quit. The next day, watched a few videos for different tips, and went with my own idea. Ran under the bridge and just waited. Killed three guys and wait for her to show up. She didn't. I don't know if I lucked out or found a glitch or what, but she just floated in the middle of the graveyard while I unloaded my sniper rifle into her head.

After that, the rest of the game was fairly easy. But yeah, that boss fight was my most recent, "THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE I HATE WHOEVER OK'D THIS STUPID STUFF!" moment.

Mass Effect 2 Insanity last year the Collector Base ambush! FFFFFFFF..... oh god! Right there in all the times I have played this game right there! is when Harbinger actually became a real villain to me. Just watching him take over that god damn Collector and taunting me all those times while stumbling me out of cover and getting me ripped to shreads by Collector fire....GGGGGRRAAAAH!

and what still pisses me off is I never did overcome that. I turned the difficulty down one freaking notch and f*ing breezed through it and afterwards I had to put the controller down I was just so blown away by how easy everything in that little bit became and how short it was after I just took the difficulty down one mother freaking notch!
But hey! I turned it up again and never had to do that through the rest of my playthrough....yay..

AND as of right now...Bioshock Infinite....I just had to pick hard for my first playthrough. I'm just going to say this, fuck the Siren... *eye twitches* just...how....HOW!!! I was absolutely in love with this game and now....all I can say is I just wasn't born with enough mother flipping middle god damn fingers! I've been stuck on this for 3 weeks!

I'm actually decent at BlazBlue now. I understand my combo links with Makoto probably more than any of my UMVC3 characters weirdly enough. I can actually hit confirm most hits into something no matter what. My combos are hella basic but I can reset them easily enough because lol Makoto.

Oh and I can do the seemingly impossible threequarter circle forward movement regularly now. I only end up jumping occasionally instead of all the damn time. Good practice for P4fuckingA when it shows up finally.

I also got started on Lily's route half decently in Katawa Shoujo yesterday. I might be able to go one session without stopping to load Hanako's route in progress after 20 minutes some day. SHE RUINED THE REST OF THE GAME! TOO GOOD!

Yeah I don't play many singleplayer games anymore. Not intentionally I might add, I just love my BlazBlue and League.

On the same day a couple weeks ago, I beat Smough and Ornstein for the first time in Dark Souls and I beat Satan for the first time in Binding of Isaac. Still trying to work out whether Smough's hammer shovel charge thing or Satan's pet bomb leeches are cheaper.

A while ago, I beat Stage 2's last boss on Astro Boy: Omega Factor. I was playing on Hard Mode, and with the game being partly developed by Treasure, that means that it's really freakin' hard.

In the spirit of all the feminism related threads, I decided to beat an old favourite of mine, Hostile Waters, without using any of the male AI chips. Three out of the ten AIs are female, and one of those comes very late in the game. Nonetheless, I did it.

I'm not good at stealth games at all, so getting all the way to Act 4 of Metal Gear Solid 4 (damn was I late on the bandwagon) made me pretty happy. It's a short hurdle, I know, but hey, I'm proud!
