As many of you know, Team Fortress 2 gets tons of updates all the time. Ranging from small to large, these updates get a lot of attention from serious TF2 fans. People chatter about how the latest change makes or breaks the update... blah blah blah. However, what's unique about this latest update is that it hasn't been released at all... or even announced. The evening of St. Patrick's day, people started noticing a strange item dropping in backpacks... a mystery item.
http://www.tf2items.com/lists/mystery/

It came out of no where? Much as the Portal 2 hints generated mass confusion, these question marks left many awake. Naturally, the hoards jumped on this and the usual chaos occurred. Tin foil hats being donned everywhere, even at the cost of bar hopping on this fine day.

[insert chaos here]

Finally, we can all rest with this encounter:

11:11 PM - Drunken F00l: also, it looks like engineer weapons or new hats or something have started dropping tonight?
11:11 PM - Drunken F00l: item indexes 153, 154, 159
11:12 PM - Robin: oh that isn't good
...
...
11:13 PM - Robin: sure explains some behavior I saw before coming home
11:13 PM - Drunken F00l: oh do elaborate
11:13 PM - Robin: oh well, will fix it tomorrow morning
11:13 PM - Robin: nah, nothing interesting, just random debugging
...
11:14 PM - Drunken F00l: good luck calming everyone down tomorrow morning
11:14 PM - Robin: heh, it's stuff that's supposed to be out tomorrow
Cheers mates! Yet another update tomorrow.

(This post really had no point. I just wanted to write something while mildly inebriated.)

Thanks! I've already lost a ton of sleep searching for those illusive items, too :)

And yet again Valve shows themselves to be great developers. Can't wait for tomorrow.

[HEADING=2]Engineer update? Friggin' finally![/HEADING]

It's intresting what will be in the update. Sniper turrets? Rivet guns? Blowtorches? Maybe some kind of target painter?
And how about some new Alpine maps - which, i hope, will actually be played this time around - ?

Valve updating mah Sentry!

I'll be interested to see if it's only the engie though, Valve have to know that a single class update will swamp servers with sgs.

I'm gonna be assuming we get a "Meet the..." as well.

A few months ago Valve added a contribution part to the site where people could model their own weapons/hats and the best would be implemented. Yesterday, 3 mysterious items (item 159, with a question mark or something) were found in people's backpacks, completely unusable, most likely an oversight on Valve's part. 3 new community weapons were added today, and the mysterious items turned out to be them.
