Scream (?).
After watching Scary Movie and therefore recognising every scene, I just couldn't stop laughing.

I dont know what it's called, but it is in a marsh and theres some crocodile monster or something. Point is, it's on CLEAR DAY. How can a movie be scary when it is in CLEAR DAYLIGHT!

Pretty much any of them.
With the exception of "The Orphanage". Fucking love Guillermo del Torro.

Also I highly recommend everyone see the recent film "Hatchet". The European version has a dude getting hit with an axe 27 times. It's the funniest thing I've seen in a while, excluding "Angels & Demons".

I just watched the Devils Rejects. It was a fun movie but it was in no way scary. Why do most horror movies nowadays seem to be all about the gore rather than genuine scares???

Horror movies don't really scare me, although every once in a while one will come off and give me something to stay up at night for. But one particularly not frightening movie would have to be House of 1000 Corpses. It managed to entertain but not to scare me...out of everyone else in the theater xD

Blair Witch Project. it's probably an obvious choice but that wasn't scary at all. well, at the time it wasn't but when i was in bed that night i thought about the film and it did give me the creeps (i was about 13 at the time)
I agree, I have never understood how the Blair Witch Project is scary. When I watch it all I see is a few teenagers, a lot of swearing and the singular most anti-climatic ending to a film. As far as I'm aware the idea is for it to be a "psychological horror", well if thats the case then I'm convinced that Hollywood should leave it alone and let the Japanese etc. film-makers do it.

Although i didn't see any of the movies after it I'd have to say Friday the 13th (the original). It was amusing more or less.

I was being sarcastic, I don't even know why horror movies focus on gore now.

Heres my advice to getting scared!
:3 To get scared, Hit yourself with a hammer in the head till you forget everything, then watch a scary movie and/or DIE :D

A little bit of advice: sarcasm doesn't always come across as such on the internet XD

and I prefer to get high/drunk to hitting myself in the head with a hammer, but you go right ahead!! =D

"House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects" are both very good movies in my opinion (I have a sick mind, bite me.) but I wouldn't define them as scary whatsoever. They are of the horror genre because they are horrific, not scary. This same argument goes towards any "Saw" film, very bloody and gut-wrenching (quite literally), but just not scary whatsoever (then again, that franchise went from reasonable to just plain bad...).

The least scary scary film I have ever seen would have to be the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". So tedious, takes about an hour to actually get anywhere (I like the story behind it, but it just takes hours to get to the point...). That's why I like "House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects" as they are basically a good version of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

Scariest horror movie - Epic Movie.

The scary movie series.
Well they weren't really horror movies.... they were parodies.... but then they had no actual element of satire in them, nor indeed any humour. So they were horror movies without horror, comedies without comedy and parodies without any actual parody.
Those things were movies with no identity.
I think he was just trying to be ironic silly! ^.^

I think we need to distinguish a few things. First, not all horror movies are actively trying to scare you. Being horrified is not necessarily the same thing as being scared. Devil's Rejects was plenty horrifying, but not really at all scary, per se. Also, plenty of the movies already named are trying to be funny - the later Elm Street movies, the later Chucky movies, and so forth - so naturally they're not going to be scary.

Of movies that are trying to be scary and failing...well, most of them, honestly, especially American versions of Japanese horror films. I desperately keep searching for well-done horror movies, but usually wind up extremely disappointed. This weekend's attempt was a Norwegian film called Cold Prey. Not bad, but certainly not remarkable.
