"Your overall impressions, or any final thoughts you want to leave us with about your impressions of the game so far?"- GameXplain

"Absolutely. Let me put it this way.
I want everyone listening to this to just take a deep breath, breathe in slowly, exhale, and i want everybody to take just a moment, and allow yourself to make a memory that will last a lifetime, because The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of those RARE games, it's an Ocarina of Time level game. it's a Super Mario Galaxy level game. This is a game that we're going to be talking about for decades to come, it's going to be a reference point for these discussions 10, 20, 30 years from now.

So you're going to want to remember where you were, what you were doing in your life, when you got to play Breath of the Wild for the first time. It is that good. "

Nintendo Force, eh? They sound a fair and unbiased place to get opinions of Nintendo games from.

As much as it kills me, I more than likely never play Breath of the Wild due to me never buying a Switch due to my limited game playing time. So I choose to believe that Breath of the Wild will be awful, farmed out to Digital Homicide before they imploded because Nintendo couldn't be arsed to make it.

My hope is that it feels like a somewhat living world since its supposed to be a truly open-world experience, not like the hubworld style of old. I want it to feel like there's something there and not just empty space between content rich areas. Otherwise I'm looking forward to it, because I really haven't found a LoZ I haven't liked, even Skyward Sword's awkwardness was still fun.

oh please. literally every reviewer is biased to some extent. Nintendo Force is a magazine that focus's on reviewing just Nintendo games. what kind of a name do you expect them to have for gods sake? Xbox Force?

Yeah. I'm convinced!

BRB folks, gotta buy a Switch so I can experience this timeless classic!

That's fine and all, I don't disagree with what you say. However, the whole "this game will be talked about for decades to come" hyperbole rings a bit hollow to me when coming from a magazine that is based on Nintendo. If you had of quoted a reviewer that didn't have ties to Nintendo, then I probably wouldn't have posted my sarcastic comment.

Despite me joking that Breath of the Wild is going to be bad in my original post, it will probably be awesome. But I am rather cynical of quotes from publications with ties to Nintendo hyping up a game, in much the same way I would if it had been a game that a PlayStation or Xbox magazine had been covering.

Actually...

On December 21, 2012, IGN editor and magazine founder Lucas M. Thomas announced his intention to release the magazine, stating that he had begun to plan for the magazine upon hearing of Nintendo Power's cancellation.

would you like some fries with all that salt you've got there?

thank god for the easy allies forum community. so much god damn negativity and pessimism here.

oh and FYI. i've said literally nothing about the Switch here. this thread is about Zelda BOTW. not Switch. hell, you even said in this Switch thread. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.947385-Lets-talk-Switch#comment_form

I'm curious to see how it does.

Zero interest for me personally though. So far as I can tell the only reason to buy a Nintendo console over any other platform is to play Nintendo games. Since I have absolutely zero interest in Nintendo's games, their console has no appeal to me.

It has the whole mobility thing going, but if I want to play a game on the go I'll do it on my phone, a thing that I'm already carrying and fits in my pocket. If I'm carrying a bag big enough to hold a Switch then I'll already have a book in it, so I'm covered.

So, Why exactly are you in here again if you have 0 interest in Nintendo games?

The words you're looking for in this instance are skepticism and sarcasm.

Well, I'm in the thread because I saw the name Yoshi178 next to a thread containing the title of an unreleased Nintendo game, whereupon I thought to myself, "I bet he's wildly gushing about it and declaring it an instant classic." Then I clicked to see if I was right.

Then I posted to express the opinion that you are not a credible source when it comes to the subject of Nintendo. You see, it's terribly important that everybody knows exactly what I think about all things.

oh and FYI. i've said literally nothing about the Switch here. this thread is about Zelda BOTW. not Switch.
Okay? I just mentioned the Switch in passing because it's the platform that BOTW is on. (And the also WiiU I think?)

yeah it's on Wii U. so get it on that if you don't want to spend $300 on a Switch to play it.

but since we all know you have zero interest in Nintendo games. we already know you're clearly not going to play it anyway.

and why do you care so much about if i'm "gushing" over a Nintendo game? yeah i like Nintendo games and mainly play Nintendo games rather than Playstation and Xbox games. so yeah i like to discuss and talk about Nintendo games. you got a problem with that?

I've already explained why I'm here.

Although the only reason I'm still here is because you keep quoting me. Otherwise I would have lost interest after my first post.

Huh? No.

I'm not stopping you from playing or discussing Nintendo games. You do you.

oh right i forgot. because you're specific opinion is just oh so damn important. and everyone needs to hear every little you have because you're are just that important. no matter how little you care about said subject at hand.
Yes, exactly.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing it's that good.

Even so I am very much looking forward to this game. "X game goes open world" isn't something I think is always worth celebrating but it feels like a natural evolution for Zelda which has always had kind of a Metroid style semi-open world. It's going to be a day one buy for me (Wii U version) which is something I don't do that often.

God's sakes Yoshi, it's called sarcasm. Someone acted sarcastic and posted about it. It's not like he's telling you the Switch/Zelda is shit and you should feel bad for thinking otherwise. Any post that doesn't fall in line with "everyone must love Nintendo" isn't some personal attack to you or your opinions.

Chill the fuck out, it's not a big deal

I had the same thought when I saw their name, I was looking at info on the Switch and thought this can't be objective.
But they are actually quite good reviewers, and stay very neutral looking at things from multiple perspectives and using various sources. There are a few exceptions (like the Switch unboxing video) but then the guy actually sais something like "I am going full small child at xmas mode now, so don't expect too much from the negative side of things right now" which I think is great, actually knowing what kind of person one is and not trying to hide it away.
But I do agree with you, that choosing a name like that might alienate people from them, if I want objective information that name isn't going to help me watch them at first, it did alienate me at first.

I'm looking forward to the game, I am hoping it will be good. I loved Xenoblade X, so something even close when it comes to world exploration will be great. The story and gameplay is something I will judge after playing it.

The press generally gives Nintendo games a free pass - wouldn't want to deal with the hate mail otherwise.

Nintendo fans will of course say it's good.

At this point all I heard is "Wolf! Wolf! Help!".

what on earth are you talking about?

the "7.8/10, too much water" meme about IGN's review of Wind Waker HD doesn't exist for nothing.
