Hello everyone,

So as the title says. What is the littlest or weirdest thing(s) that has made you want to play a game. For me when I saw that you would have the ability to sing sea shanties in AC 4 something just went of in my head saying "I must play that game now".

So what are your?

When I found out in Spec Ops: The Line that the main enemy is American soldiers, I immediately got it because you never see American soldiers as enemies or starters of problems in games. You see the FBI or CIA or some general as enemies, but never actual American infantry.

And a variety of gun mechanics in Metro 2033. Seeing bullets disappear from your magazine and being able to use the model to accurately judge how many shots you have left is my favorite.

Being able to ride a horse.......Yeah I'll admit, I'm a girl and I like the pretty ponies damnit! So whenever I see a game where I get to ride a horsie I kind of at least have to try it.

But more than that I like games with "little details." I know many people may find it tedious, but I love a game where you have this grand adventure to go on, but you also have to deal with life's little responsibilites. Like you gotta go home to water the garden or else you're not going to have enough food for your next adventure (just as a vague example can't think of a game like that...save maybe Rune Factory.) Or like being able to find and purchase decorations for your home or whatever, like in Fable or Mass Effect.

I know they're stupid things, but I feel kind of like they personalize my game and make it more immersive for me because when you're an actual person, yeah maybe you've got to deal with the big evil baddies, but if you don't clean your weapon enough it's not going to be much help now is it?

Being a merchant in fantasy setting! That's the only reason I bought Recettear and I wasn't disappointed.

Shotgun-nunchucks.

I bought Bayonetta for that reason alone. I was definitely not the target audience.

My biggest weakness
a one act play by Diddy_Mao.

Gamestop Employee: Can I help you today?

Diddy_Mao: Nah, just looking to see what's new.

Gamestop Employee: Have you Seen Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2?

Diddy_Mao: Never played the first one, not really an "X-Treme" kind of guy.

Gamestop Employee: It's a lot of fun, you have an open world to play in and it's got a surprisingly in depth combo system for your tricks.

Diddy_Mao: That sounds awful.

Gamestop Employee: It's also got a pretty robust character creator.

Diddy_Mao: ...One Copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 please.

~fin~

Seriously, this insatiable lust for character creator/customization has been the sole reason I've bought a lot of games over the years.

Somebody has already said American Soldiers in Spec Ops so I'll come up with something else.

I actually got (well borrowed) Mafia II because of the fact that the Police chase after you for running red lights, speeding or driving on the wrong side of the road. The game wasn't amazing or anything but I wish other games took from Mafia II's example.

Anything 80's themed or includes neon colours. Which is weird since I grew up in the 90's.

Hotline Miami, and Blood Dragon were recently bought and instantly loved.

A few things that have immediately grabbed my attention:

16-bit side scroller beat-em ups.

Magic floating swords. And I mean a whole bunch of them, not just one.

gunslingers who run on rule-of-cool to perform unnecessary flip-jumps. Some people seem to really not like this, but I just like the flare I guess.

The ability to strafe, circle or keep continuous smooth movement while pelting a target with pellets/bullets/dakka dakkas. I think this is what drew me to ACV. Dem rocket roller blades :p

I got Lunar: Silver Star Harmony for the PSP JUST because of the enemy death sound effect. I was quite interested in the game to begin with. Epic music, great art style, the basic stuff. For some reason though... I heard that sound, and I was somehow entranced by this game o.o Snatched it up on my birthday, and it instantly became one of my fave RPG games ever. Never looked back <3

I bought Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 because I found out that Deadpool had a Level 3 Hyper Combo that literally broke the 4th wall, and I didn't know who Deadpool was yet. That was a wonderful day. I also learned how to get into fighting games a little bit. I still suck at them, but it made me want to play them every little way that I could.

I wasn't interested in in Red Dead Redemption until I saw a commercial with John Marston, and I kid you not, holding a Sawed Off Shotgun with one hand.
Immediately I thought: "HOLY CRAP A SAWED OFF SHOTGUN I NEED THIS COWBOY VIDYA GAME!!!" Needless to say the game is awesome in general, its just... that Sawed Off man...

I also got interested in Persona 3-4, specifically 3 because of the whole "Shot yourself in the head" thing. Worth it.

I only checked out Okami because you could draw your enemies to death.

Little did I know the rest of the game was pretty sweet, too.

"You can bite pieces off of the boss to gain their power, and they become weaker as you do."

Sold.

Any game featuring "playing as an animal" or "evolution" - ala Tokyo Jungle - just sells me. I play it.

I cannot fathom why.

Anything considered a Rouge-lite. I've wasted so much time on FTL and Rouge Legacy just because of the random element...and I regret nothing.

Saint's Row II got me because it was described as GTA IV, only better.

Some items descriptions from Disgaea. I found them so funny I just had to buy the game.
Heh, I was playing Disgaea 3 recently, and I was pleasantly surprised to see what the description was for the Spartan Shield:

"Because This. Is. Not. Sparta."

I'll admit, that gave me a chuckle.

I pretty much went into BlazBlue, not because I was trying to get into another fighting game other than UMVC3 (although that's what ended up happening because the online community in that game is wank) but because Noel has a fucking sick hat and I want to main that so hard.

After a while Mu-12 caught my eye (not hard, any red blooded male would take a second glance with that outfit) and goodbye Noel, I leave you in the dust. Time to be the untouchable tricky Mu who keeps pushing you away with her three separate knockback moves. "LOL ORIGINS LOL"

Mu-12, Makoto, Hazama and the barest splash of Noel are all I play. Makoto because her endless enthusiasm for punching things is adorable and hopelessly infectious, Hazama because he also has a sick hat complete with sick suit.

Noel because catching people with random FENIRs is such an evil, scumbag move that it's pretty funny in its own right.
