One thing we seem to be forgeting here, one nighters also present other risks that this pill can't protect you from.
Aye, true. There is that problem as well...

Anyhow, I'm glad the option opened up. I'll be first in line when they get released in a few years...

The way I understand this stuff working is that it stops the sperm from being made, but doesn't affect the (for lack of a better term) seed cells. It should be safe (allowing for a recovery time much like the female pill has one for women who go off it.)

That said, I'm all for this. One night stands and whatnot where diseases are the first concern, obviously a condom is best, but why not double up on your protection?

For committed relationships (A place where condoms are less a worry for many), having both partners using protection is a good thing as well. If something happens to one, the other's protection still holds. Also, as misogynistic as this will sound, I like this idea for the simple reason that it's protection for the man himself. I know (if you accept 2nd hand acquaintances as 'know') two girls who went off birth control in secret because they thought their boyfriends were losing interest and wanted to keep them by getting pregnant.

Personally, I can't see much of a downside to using the pill and a lot of plusses.

i dont know why but some responses in this tread sounds a little sexist, so, it´s ok for women to take pills that mess up with their natural cicle, but its wrong for men to take a pill that will temporaly inhibit the production of sperm??

which in it´s own i dont think it would have serious secundary effects (at least not more than what the women have to take)

well, this is just my opinion (and if they are able to inhibit the production of sperm, i am sure they will find the way to make us produce more)

1. Become richer than rich
2. Buy more than many from the questionable types of these pills (the ones that might be permanent)
3. stuff the pipelines behind a water-cleaning-facility with said quantity of pills
4. Laugh maliciously
5. Buy and take those questionable Elixir of Life pills some scientists are working on.
6. Outlive humanity.

The risk I'm foreseeing is the one night stands where the guy promises that he's "absolutely on the pill. Took one before coming here!", leaving the girl with some bad consequences (especially in America where the anti abortion topic is so hot right now)
Who then smack them with a massive paternity suit and drain (quite justifiably) the guys money for the next 18 years? The problem you described can happen right now, but with the genders reversed. We could argue all day about child support vs pregnancy, but you'd have to be pretty stupid to secretly knock a girl up. Heck, you could secretely poke a hole in your condom if you want it that much.

If I were in a committed relationship with a guy I'd probably trust him to take it but otherwise I'd rather take the pill myself and know I wasn't going to get pregnant than worry about some guy I might never see again saying he'd taken it. And that's entirely ignoring the issue of STDs.

After reading many of these posts, I'm pretty sure sterilization shouldn't be optional. Some people are just too stupid to be allowed to breed.

Use your brains. This product has been extensively tested by the FDA and other organizations. They wouldn't release it if it caused permanent damage. Seems like a fair alternative to other birth control methods. As a guy, I never understood why women have a pill and we don't. When used together, it should be virtually foolproof.

And anyone asking "what's wrong with condoms?" has clearly never used them.

If a woman wants to take the pill that's her business. If she doesn't want to take the pill, that's her business. If a man want's to take the pill that's his business...do you see where I'm going here?

sounds like risky crazy cakes to me how does it even work does it sterilize you for a short while or something?
one of them works like the female pill which you have to take everyday and the other just sterilizes you for a few hours.
still sounds rather odd i mean how does it sterilise you for only a couple of hours bah i bet no one will take them or even if they did it wouldnt be many.

Ive been paranoid over my dick from other pills, let alone ones thats supposed to do stuff to them.
After they have been out awhile id have no problem experimenting with them, but I dont think id trust them to work, I have to much faith in my men being powerful enough to outlive a simple pill.

Your assuming a barslut would get a name.
Well that's not even slightly chauvinist or derogatory.

Hell no.

Absolutely not.

I could not be more emphatic about this.
The hypocrisy by males in this thread astounds me; I'd have no qualms about preventing an unwanted pregnancy.

Though, I'm gay so the point is so moot it's not funny.
