Pretty self-explanatory title: what are the most and least impressive things thus far?
Most impressive for me would have to be the demos for "The Last of Us" and "Tomb Raider." Oh, and Assassin's Creed 3, though the naval battle looked kind of lame. Putting it lightly, all looked hella cool. Far Cry 3's SP demo didn't look too bad, either, though the co-op demo was lacking.
As for least? Well, to say that I'm disappointed by "Splinter Cell: Blacklist" would be putting it pretty lightly. Literally nothing I've loved about any of the previous games- and I've loved all of the previous games- is returning. No personal storyline a la Conviction, no true stealth a la Chaos Theory, no action stealth a la Conviction... so on, so forth. And where the hell is Michael Ironside? Yeah, some bullshit about motion capture, but come one, no one will give a damn about how realistically Sam moves. People will give a damn about Michael Ironside!
Also, Resident Evil 6 and Halo 4 could go either way for me. My real problem? Dead Space 3. I'll give it a shot since I love the Dead Space storyline and characters, but the gameplay and scares have gotten a little... strange. To say the least. I dunno about this. Not to mention the jackassery of Carver's character- terribly voice acted, just unnecessary.
And here is the coup de grace: my real problem: almost every game essentially played itself due to the setpieces. Just look at the demos and see what I mean. Nearly every game had less character interaction and more "oh sweet, look at this." As you may have figured out, I'm a little disappointed thus far. Hopefully Aliens: Colonial Marines can pull me out of my funk.
EDIT:
Hot diggidy damn, almost forgot about Watch Dogs. That makes Most Impressive, though it also conforms to the idea of games playing themselves that I've grown to hate, but I guess it's a growing trend to whatever.
