I did a similar topic a while back, but that one was on a much broader scale, as in: Who is the greatest badass ever?

This is much more personal. Who is the baddest ass with whom you are personally acquainted?

The most badass man I know is a member of my school's ROTC cadre. He is a Command Sergeant Major, one of the highest enlisted ranks in the army, he is in his late forties and in better shape than most of us 18-20 year old cadets, and he used to be a fricking Ranger. He has most certainly killed men.

How badass are your friends/enemies/family members/casual acquaintances?

I would say my grandfather simply on the virtue of his mustache alone. He could be squaring off with Billy the Kid TODAY and I wouldn't be surprised.

My life is pretty tame, so I'm gonna say my mates uncle Graham.

Why? Well (so the story goes) he was walking to his car one day, and a guy walked up to him and tried to mug him. The guy whipped out a knife and tried to stab him. Graham, being the manly man that he is, put his hand up to block the knife.

The knife went into, and through his hand all the way up to the hilt. From there, he pulled his arm sideways, ripping the knife out of the guys hand, then punched him in the face with his free hand.

He then bundled the (now unconcious) mugger into his car and drove to the nearest hospital.

After the guy got his nose fixed and Graham got his hand stitched back together, Graham promised he wouldn't press charges and that he would pay for the medical bill for the guy's nose. Now they're good friends and often joke about it.

My old High School Psychology teacher. He was a Green Beret in Vietnam, though when I was in high school he was very out of shape and a nice guy he would tell us some insane stories of some of his declassified missions (He's wasn't allowed to talk about most of the shit he's been through)...

I met Chris Chelios, he's pretty badass.

Most badass person I know? Probably my mother's father, though I haven't seen him in a while since my family had a bit of a falling out.

Well, I've never met this guy but all the people on the soccer team tell stories about him. This guy, Tony, joined the marines at 18. Spent like 40 years there, saw action in all the major operations, then got kicked out because he was too old. So instead of retiring he joined the army. And he is currently serving in Afganistan.
The badassest badass I've met is this guy called mark. He taught Kempo Karate to me. He lived in a trailer park and worked at a deli. He'd go and fuck with people at his job, like turning manual meat slicing machines on auto and the like. Then he'd come to our Karate class and make us do squats with weights then he'd kick our legs. Then he'd say something really mean and we'd all laugh 'cause he was such a bad ass

It would be an exaggeration to say that we are "acquainted", but I once met and shook hands with Robert K. Brown.

Probably my friend tim. I can't say alot about him (cause you never know who is behind the screen on the other side), but he's a former (maybe? He does stuff that makes me think he's still in a gang) gang member and is so tough that after three rival gang members burned his tattoo off him, he had the skin removed to the point where its basically muscle, had the tattoo reapplied on said patch of body, then went and cut the three rival gang member's identifying tattoos off their bodies forcible so he could have them sewn onto this body on his back as his version of a tear drop tattoo symbolizing the people you killed.

and i'm not even scratching the surface of his life.
