everyone has been there, followed the games trailers, read up on it
finally it is released and ................ buggery
it turns out to be nothing like what you expected and is really disappointing

my personal biggest disappointment of a game was brutal legend
going in expecting a hack and slash metal extravaganza with an axe and a guitar full of lighting

instead what i got was a metal RTS, like a fret board through the heart

so what are you biggest disappointments from the gaming world ?

I dunno, Circle of the Moon? It's hard to follow Symphony of the Night, but they did a pretty bad job. Good thing the Sorrow games are awesome.

Probably Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was on the site for like every day before it came out, and when I finally got it... It was pretty underwhelming. Maybe it was just because I played a ton of the original and Melee and it never really could live up to my expectations.

It'd definately be Oblivion's character creator. You have a million and one options but your character will always have a big nose and weird eyes. And never look right from the side.

Red Faction: Guerilla. I was looking foward to destroying Martian society with style, but the frustrating combat and boring enviroments made me sell it back two days after getting it.

Probably Half Life 2.

Everyone talked about how great it was but when I played it, I just thought it was.... mediocre at best.

Operation flashpoint 2. i did have a bad feeling about the game when they decided to pull the demo days before they said they would realize it. I thought nar it will be fine. thast what you get for putting your hart on your sleave. I fell for everything they said and the trailers all look very promising. I know realize there done like that to sell it.
Now I look at game trailers and cannot get excited.

I have feeling that BC2 will go the same way I've never played the 1st one, but going on how they F**ked us all on not fixing bf2 am not holding my breath.

Ocarina of Time. Finally played it two months ago. I was expecting the GREATEST GAME EVER from all the praise people heap on it.

I got a good game, that nostalgia fools people into thinking is perfect.

Its obvious but Aliens vs Predator, the new one.
Christ I wanted that game to be good, I rebelled against the reviewers saying they were wrong and blind to its brilliance, it arrived and I anxiously installed it while reading the game manual. The first warning signs appeared here when the manual was all xbox controllers but I ignored them.

Woe is me I say.... woe is me.....

Oh yeah and the game sucked balls.... real hard..... boring, unintuitive, poorly chosen controls (I remapped half the stuff in the menu ffs), terrible and short storyline, way too many latest movie influences, crappy aspect ratio, profound lack of immersion resulting from the way your interactions seems disconnected from the world you're in, even with the very violent grab kills!

Damn its just not fair, why cant it just be good! The worst part is that you can see certain aspects of the game were a labour of love! The way to aliens you are not playing as move is quite a remarkable piece of animation, their tails curving as they go around corners or the way they duck and dive around you trying to avoid attacks.......

Sigh

Grand Theft Auto IV.

I'm being serious. I hated it, and have never been more disappointed in ANY game.

I'll agree whole heartedly that the non-existent storyline of farcry 2 was a massive dissapointment and yet I still play that game today. Something about the freedom you have in the generic missions really appeals to me. Im not gonna argue that the game was actually good but the shooting and fire/explosive functions run pretty well and if you do it right the stealth is decent.

I dont know what it is but I really do enjoy that game alot(it helps that I love being able to choose from lots of guns... real guns(thats why borderlands is boring)) although no one can deny the soldier at checkpoint respawn times take the piss real bad!

Brutal Legend had such promise. A rock n roll RTS? Crazy! So sad the way it turned out. I had to dig up Toejam and Earl to get my music inspired game fix. Funkify!

Freelancer.

After the awesomeness that was Starlancer, that game just blew up on the launch pad to me.

Well you really have to consider by today's standards in development it is kinda meh, but so many games stole idea's and developed from it, and at the time it was original and a master piece, and should retain that title rightfully.

My most recent disappointment.......hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....well honestly it's been so long since I hap-haphazardly bought a game, OH there it is, the game that inspired me to fuck other people's opinions and do my down research. The original Mass Effect for the xbox 360. Everyone hyped that game, and everyone praised it. I played it and was so disheartened, the combat angered me, the vehicle sections were a nightmare, and when I ran into a bug that cause my game to lose five hours of progress, I put the game back in its box, threw it in the closet and suppressed the memories of it.

Red Alert 3. I expected a fun and somewhat silly RTS that followed closely to the style and gameplay of its predeccesor. What I got was a short, stupidly silly RTS that had been balanced to such a degree that tactics and strategy no longer played a role.

I mean, Japanese school girls with psycic powers and gundam-esque robots? Building bases on water? I'm still very bitter about it.
