The most terrifying games??

Hey guys,

Was just wondering what you guys think is the most terrifying game? I am working on a concept for a survival horror type genre and need to do some research into some particularly frightening games

Amnesia.
The only game that actually scared me.

I've got a few games in mind which can be considered terrifying.

Resident Evil (The old games like 1, 2 and 3 although the series can be better described as startling rather than terrifying.)

Silent Hill: (In truth I've never had the please of playing any of these games, but from what I've seen youtube wise and other sources they do look really scary.

Finally Fatal Frame, a game where you have to face ghosts with a camera, the closer you let the ghosts get to you, the more damage the camera does.

Try Penumbra as well.
Also try FEAR. Not that scary but I do really love the parts where the game trys to fuck with your head.

Try searching this forum for similar threads. They've been done many times and they have awesome games you can use for your concept.

So far, I can only say Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Amnesia, Fatal Frame and F.E.A.R. Maybe Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh, but it's more gore than fright.

The perfect survival horror game has already been made, and it's Demon's Souls. Now, as for terrifying, I'd say Fatal Frame 2.
