Trolls, aim here. Chrono Trigger is the reason I play RPGs today, that was the key to the door of everything else in the genre of epic JRPGS, regular RPGs. That all said, Chrono Cross more than any other game, has had the greatest effect on me. I find it to be the better game of the two, again I stress Chrono Trigger rocked face and I beat it again the day it came out on the DS, but there was something about Chrono Cross. Let the list begin;

Every character, I don't remember the exact number, (but I believe it was around 2,312) each had an engaging story, and I don't believe there is one person on this planet that can't relate with at least one of them. However should you related to the pink three tailed dog... You should consider therapy. But there was a back story nonetheless, which not only adds to the hours of game play, but gives you a chance to connect with with them, to the point you may cry when Harley dies. (Which I totally did not do...)

While yes, this is a sequel, it can stand alone as well, but the times it links back to Trigger, it's enough to make any fan boy jump up and down on the couch shouting, "I know the Trigger reference you're making right now!" While your wife leaves the divorce paper work on the table taking your children away never to be seen again. (Whoa... Dark much)

Moving forward by taking a step back. The characters stories and why they are amazing; for anyone that aspires to write any sort of fiction, any sort, it does not matter, going off of the example set by Chrono Cross one can learn the importance of knowing the character you make up, from Serge to Glenn to Kid, Leana, that weird magician guy with the blue hair and mask... Anywaz, the game puts the spot light on the importance of character development and how well the audience relates to the character.

Sorry, enough on that, though I could go on for another day or two.

The music... Here is some of my back story. Working my butt off I was finally able to buy my very own Super Nintendo (Yeah, parents said screw off and mow the lawn) and I had Donkey Kong or something, and that was about it. Though for my next birthday my parents bought me Chrono Trigger and I played the crap out of that game, I never even bought another SNES game, who needs one anyways? I had the top game ever.

Well, time passes by as it tends to do, and I decide to check out this new awesome website a friend told me about called Gamespot.com Type in a few of my favorite games, see the reviews, judge if the site was fair, move on to the next game. Well, I typed in Chrono Trigger, and two games popped up; Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. "Well," said I, "What is this Chrono Cross?" Bought it shortly thereafter, plugged it into the new PS I bought just for the occasion, and about three weeks later I emerged from the cave to the light of a new dawn unsure of the date or time.

That all said, from the first note of the intro, I was hooked. The song played and I nearly cried, it was beautiful, every time I hear that song I'm swept away like no song has ever been able to do again. I know it sounds sad, pathetic, or whatever, but there was such a deep connection I wanted to play the violin just so I could recreate that song whenever I wanted.

Well, that was all a long time ago... I've not played the game in years... 5, 6, 7, 8 years or so... Can't quite remember. Quite frankly I've nearly forgotten the game entirely. However, from a friend who knew I loved orchestra and RPGs told me to check out the... Video Game Orchestra? I forget their title for which I apologize sincerely and you may troll me on that too. It was a video from a live performance at Anime Boston 2010 at the Heinz Convention Center. And I listened to it playing in the back round while I did my work. However, all of a sudden, I heart the first note to the Chrono Cross intro... I was instantly taken back... And wrote all this trash most everyone here is not going to listen to read, remember, or give two craps about. I don't care, there are few things in this world I have a genuine passion for, Chrono Cross is one of them, and I just wanted to try and mirror that in text.

To those that made it this far I thank you. I hope if you've not played the game this will give you some insight to one persons opinion of the game, and perhaps motivate you to play it on your own time, when it comes out on the PSN perhaps?

Fo' serious though, it's kinda cool to see how much of an effect a game can have on a person, and while I'm not really old enough to look back on how something affected my childhood (since I'm still 15), The DS remake of Final Fantasy 3 is probably a game I'll look back on when I'm older with similar fondness. I spent so much time on that game when I was younger (about 670 hours last time I checked my game save) that just hearing the first few notes of any song in it's soundtrack makes me all happy.
