I'm going to post a noob guide that I wrote here, if you liked it, feel free to comment on what you liked, if you didn't like it, then fuck off! tell me how I could have made it better.

I was going to post this in the reviews section, but it's not a review, so that's out.

The MW2 Newbie Guide:

If you?re new to Modern Warfare 2, then you?re probably wondering why the hell you can?t seem to get kills and why that man is humping your corpse. That?s what I thought in the oh, so innocent days of my noobish ways (what, just me? Also, that rhymed. Tee-hee :D). First things first: This game is incredibly cheap and broken, you?ll experience many problems that cause you to get killed, some are purposefully employed by players and others are just unfortunate flaws, these are tips to help you get around these flaws as well as the occasional bullet rain or camper.

In any case, I?m here to help! Why? Because I?ve got a grapefruit sized welt on my arm and have nothing better to do, that?s why.

So let?s start, shall we?

1. Don?t sprint everywhere you?re going to go!

This advice is invaluable, I can?t tell you how many times I?ve seen myself or a team-mate get gunned down because he was charging around corners without stopping. If you?re going to move around a corner, then stop sprinting and start ADS (Aiming Down Sights), because 9 times out of 10, there's going to be a camper. Also, if a camper is bothering you, think tactically! Don't run into the corner where he'll shotgun you to a horrible, painful death, throw a grenade at him, or find a spot where he's uncovered and shoot him up!

2. Move and strafe as you shoot!

Seriously, it helps A LOT. Getting gunned down in the middle of a one on one, mano a mano encounter just hurts your ego. So to help you not have a bruised ego, just learn to move to the side as you shoot, you?ll dodge bullets and occasionally the odd ?Noob Tube?.

3. Keep a look out for boosters and Care Package Glitchers!

You may be thinking first off ?Hey, wait, I thought that they fixed CP glitching!? Well, not for the PS3 they didn?t. So you?ve got to find a way to make these glitchers? lives miserable! Steal their care packages, kill them before obtaining a care package and if all else fails, glitch against the sorry bastards. It shows that you mean to play an equal game, and that WILL piss them off.

As for boosters, well, you?ve just got to find and kill them and proceed to ?Tactical Insertion Rape? them. Simple enough.

4. Before you rage-quit, try and have a little fun.

What I mean is, try to have fun at the other team?s expense. No, I don?t mean boosting or CP glitching, I mean the art of Noob Tubing! Which is firing a rocket or spring propelled grenade that usually gets 1-3 kills if you fire at the right spot. It?s fun and produces the funniest hate mail. You should try it at least once. That being said, do not, I repeat, DO NOT make a habit of this. Using only noob tubes for 1 or 2 matches to relieve any stress is fine, but anything more than that and you'll be making a lot of people sad pandas.

5. Try odd combinations of perks and weapons, you never know what might work for you.

For instance, I never thought the M21 EBR would be as kickass with: ACOG, Stopping Power Pro, Scavenger Pro, and Steady Aim Pro, as it actually is. I just use it like an assault rifle and usually get plenty of kills with it. So just mix and match until you get the right class, the proverbial ?Call of Duty G-Spot?, which makes CoD sound like a porno, but you know what I mean, right?

6. Sidearms! Oh, glorious sidearms!

Choosing a good sidearm in CoD is as important as finding the right primary, a nice semi-auto pistol can kill em' dead faster than you may think, and the Raffica is practically an M16 pistol. Chances are that if you ever run out of ammo, you'll be stuck with your sidearm, if only momentarily, so pick the best one for you.

7. Pay attention to your surroundings!

Listen for footsteps, use the radar, if you hear bullets whizzing around you, but the radar isn't showing a red dot anywhere near you, then you may be safe. Of course, it doesn't hurt to look for people using silenced weapons. Ninja Pro and Sitrep Pro(I think Sitrep Pro is the right one) can be helpful for decreasing the noisiness of your footsteps and the loudness of the enemies footsteps.

Also remember, cover is your friend! Even if it's just a blown up (not a "fresh" car, a blown up one) car or even just a flimsy piece of wood to hide from a sniper or something similar. One last thing, Cold Blooded Pro is an extremely useful perk, it makes it so that you don't have to deal with any lethal killstreaks, such as Sentry Guns, Attack Choppers, Harriers, and rarely you won't be spotted by people using Chopper Gunner, or an AC130/Predator Missile.

8. General efficiency and overall pleasant-ness

Another good tip is to learn maps, do private matches with a friend, or put on Marathon and Lightweight and just sprint around the map looking for Choke Points, popular camping spots and places which usually just get rigged with claymores and C4, you may get killed a lot by taking the second route, which is why I advise doing the first thing, a private match with a friend.

Pick your shots, this is especially useful for snipers. Wait until you know that you'll get him before spraying up the place and wondering why you're dead and he's got a chopper gunner. Oh, yeah, and ALWAYS ADS for medium to long range kills. I'd even advise you to do it in close range as well.

And, don't be a douche, just because you walked into this one guys' claymore for the hundred and eighty third time in a row, doesn't mean that you get to rage and send hate mail, or cuss him out in the lobby. Just cool down and try again.

That about concludes my MW2 Noob Guide. Stay in school and don?t do prestige lobbies!

generally a good guide, to which even experienced players could learn something, but there are 2 things I had issue with.

1) Would it no be more appropriate to call this the "newbie" guide to MW2? Noobs are people who play the game constantly but use tools that were meant for people newer to the series, while newbies are people who are simply not used to the game yet.

2) Please don't encourage the use of the grenade launcher, as some of the newbies will eventually begin to use it constantly, then they'll act superior to the rest of us because they use a weapon that can kill multiple people with one shot without the need for precision aiming. I means serisouly, we've already got too many toobers, and another generation of them is not going to help in any way.

Thanks for the feedback.

Good guide although I never saw the need for strafing in cod since you die so quick it never made a difference when I did it.

You may want to add something about pistols. I hardly ever see people use pistols, when it should really be every sniper's secondary weapon at the very least. I can't count the number of times I've killed someone because instead of trying to noscope them I whipped out the pistol and got three shots off before they even had time to ADS.

Duly noted and I'll probably add that, thanks!

I think you should add a "listen to things around you" section. If you turn up your tv and have the perk the makes hear the footsteps better (don't need the perk but it helps), you can literally surprise the very person that was going to sneak up on you. For example, I was playing on Afghan and all my teammates got killed by airstrike that were near me so I was left alone. When I hear footsteps but no team member around, I always check where I came from and usually the guy was chasing you just wanting a knife kill. In the Afghan map, I turned around and saw 2 guys and got a kill with my magnum then a knife kill because guys also spawn near other teammates (they spawned on other side of the map, hence I was alone after the airstrike) or far from most of the other team. So there's a non-traditional way to "spawn camp" that's legit.

Why do people still complain about grenade launchers...?
Plenty of other things to complain about, like the collision detection sucking something awful and the maps that encourage campers.

Hell, the grenade launcher was usually the only thing I could rely on to get a sure kill considering how often I got killed by knives, snipers, shotguns and duel-wielded smgs, since 50% half the bullets that *hit* my targets ended up missing because the messed up bullet collision decides I actually wanted to shoot some dude in the foot, not the face, and sometimes being shot in the crotch has resulted in me being headshot.

Also dislike the pricks that boast about getting fifty million kills with their precious gay little knife but if you were to take it away from them then they'd be screwed because they can't play without it, but replying to them in same would probably result in my brothers account getting banned over the hundred or so kids that I'd upset ranting down their throats.

Good guide. Something about actually using cover is a good one. Sure most people know about it but some people just stand in the open with a sniper rifle sometimes. With any gun, find a small wall or something to hide behind. Even if bullets penetrate it, they will do less damage as one straight to the body.

Excellent guide, sir. This will come in very handy for when I once again swallow my pride and delve into the abyss that is online matchmaking once again, given that I am a mere mortal Level 15.

Nice guide but I have a very important addition:

Use cover.

Always move from cover to cover, even if it's only waist high.

Anything that makes you a smaller target for your opponent to hit is a good thing.

If your gun is aiming just over the top of something, it means your enemy can only see your head. Use this to your advantage.

I'd expand that to say that you should always pick a secondary to counter the weakness of your primary. Say I have a semi-auto or burst-fire primary - a sniper, FAL, M16, or FAMAS - I'm better off with a weapon that is good in close quarters and that I can switch to in a pinch - either a pistol or a machine pistol. If, on the other hand, I have a fully automatic weapon, most of which are good to awesome in close quarters, I'd be better off using a launcher to make up for an assault rifle's inability to shoot killstreaks down. If I'm using a LMG (especially the MG4 or RPD, which have absurd reload times) I'm much better off with a pistol, simply because switching to a pistol is about fifty times faster (seriously - 0.2 seconds as opposed to 10) than reloading and five times faster than switching to a shotgun, which will save your life. Don't use shotguns unless you're planning on treating them like your primary weapon or you're camping, because they pull out so slowly that they're pretty much useless if your clip runs dry in the middle of a firefight - you need to either have them out already or have enough warning (say, from an exploding claymore at your back) that you have enough time to pull them out.

Damn, I'm giving up all my secrets!

EDIT: oh yes: Coldblooded is hands-down the most useful perk, especially for newbies who haven't learned how not to get killed by killstreaks or avoid getting hunted down and destroyed by people who rely on their minimaps. It's balanced well for any class, too - you don't really NEED stopping power to get kills. In many cases, especially snipers, LMGs and SMGs, stopping power is useless.
