I can't understand these guys apparent stunned disbelief or why Jim Sterling had such a hissy-fit of proportions [http://www.destructoid.com/silent-hill-hd-collection-s-shitty-voice-acting-revealed--209249.phtml] over this.
To me the performances sound either improved or pretty much identical, am I missing something or is this just Fan Dumb being Fan Dumb?

I don't even like silent hill and I can say honestly the originals are far,far better in almost every way.

Newcomers won't have a problem with it, but fans that've played Silent Hill 2 from top to bottom (like me) will experience a huge disconnect between the characters and their dialoge.

It doesn't matter whether the original voice track was campy or goofy at times, it's that the new ones are unfamiliar voices giving speech to - for fans - well kown and loved characters.

Well, that makes more sense. I just can't get behind the idea of calling those stilted performances superior to the new ones...

I feel the same, but in reverse. The new Eddie sounds like a stoner, and the new James is more wooden than a sleeping Keanu Reeves.

That's the first time I've ever heard both the old and new voices, and I definitely think the old ones are better.

The thing that bothers me most is that they're doing this partially to avoid paying the original voice actors for re-using their performances. Admittedly the original voices weren't great, but they seemed more suiting, and it's painful to think that this is just because konami can't be assed to pay what they owe. This'll all be more painful when I hear Heather Mason sound like a bitchy spoilt teenage brat. Many sighs.
