The Next Xbox will be called...

No longer Durango and not 720, it seems that the International Business Times has gotten information from "ources related to development of the new Xbox" that next Xbox will be known as the Xbox Infinity.

It doesn't sound as implausible as anything else that's been put forward up until this point but we will find out in just under a week.

The Infinite logo looks a lot like the same font they used for Windows 8. So if they put out two more operating systems during the Infinite's life cycle, then the new one will come out with integration for Windows 10 or 11. So probably XBox Binary.

I say that because it has already been christened by the community as the 720. Everyone talks and thinks of it as the 720. It makes sense from a marketing standpoint to ride that. I see your point though of a circle as infinity. Rather than the symbol a 360 circle can be conceptualised as a line stretching to infinity and all points in a circle are in fact the same point. It also has an infinite number of corners (or 1 depending on what thought you assign too)

Would that happen to be a joke relating to fixing the trust relationship, by any chance? If I'm wrong then feel free to laugh at me...

Anyhow, Infinity sounds like a halfway decene tname, though someone else mentioned Binary as a possible future name too? Binary sounds a lot cooler. Whatever happens though, we won't know until the official announcement that Microsoft have planned, so there's little point speculating until then .

Yeah no. Considering its only being called the Infinity BECAUSE the image, it's safe to assume its not going to be called that. There was no mention of it being called infinity before the image.

Seriously though, I always feel like when you've hit infinity it's a)become pretentious and b) really writes yourself into a corner with the next one.


They needed to think of some sensible Playstation style naming system when they were working it out for the 360 (but not the same system because then it would always make it look like the Xbox is a generation behind). As the Wii U has shown, a good name that instantly tells everyone it's an upgrade is important

EDIT: XBOX written vertically is shocked dude with shades. It must be true!

EDIT EDIT: Oh wow the article actually lists that as a genuine possibility. I think we can agree the credibility of their 'sources' that were suggesting this to be a giant co-incidence, are probably somewhat lacking
