Since Pokemon Black and White is coming to steal our souls I figured I'd bring up something my girlfriend never stops talking about.... Never.... -_-;;
The Nuzlocke challenge is a special set of voluntary rules to follow that makes the relatively easy pokemon games much more of an ordeal.
Rule 1: You may only catch the first pokemon you encounter in each area
Rule 2: If your pokemon is ever KOed, then you must consider them DEAD. Store or release them, you can never use them again.
Additional optional rules include no legendaries, no master balls, and no healing items (for the truly hard core)
Following these rules, you have a limited number of random pokemon who you are completely dependent on. Not only does this make the game far more challenge, almost impossible in fact, but people become much more attached to their poke.
Many people create short webcomics based on their play through. Most of which are intentionally hilarious and utterly bizarre.

And some are actually quite dramatic and sad. Here is a video my class mate made when her Voltorb, who could only communicate through music, died. His name was Rick, he liked to use Rollout attack. Sadly, Rick's Rolling came to and end one day.
