The Playstation 3

Howdy folks. Now, this is one part advice thread and another discussion. You see, against all odds, I've just bought a Playstation 3. I've been an Xbox loyalist for some years now, but I though "to Hel with allegiances, I want to fully explore what the gaming world has to offer"... But mainly for the impending Team Ico Collection.

Unfortunately, after trawling the pre-owned section of my local Gamestation, I couldn't really find anything else which drew my attention. So far, I've just got a copy of Soul Calibur and Super Street Fighter to test the hardware out, but are there any really decent Playstation exclusives out there which are worth a look?

On another note, does anyone have any idea when the Team Ico Collection is gonna be released (UK)? I'm a complete and utter noob when it comes to the PS3, so I could use a little help finding my feet.

It really depends on your interests. If you're looking for exclusives, I'd get Uncharted 2. It displays a lot of the graphical capabilities of the PS3 and is a good game to boot. Little Big Planet is good too, it's all user generated content and I highly recommend it. Probably my favorite PS3 exclusive is inFamous, it's basically a sandbox game about a guy who just got super powers. The story's great, the gameplay's fun, and the graphics are solid.

Firstly, you owe it to yourself to check out Heavy Rain (provided you have a large hard drive, and a hell of a lot of patience) also, get yourself online ASAP. As for the Team Ico game, "second quarter of 2011" according to Wikipedia. I also recommend getting Little Big Planet, allows you to express your inner Da Vinci.

The Team Ico collection is going to be released next Spring.

As for exclusives I'd recomend

Resistance Fall of Man
Metal Gear Solid 4

(there are more just can't think of them at the moment)

buy rachet and clank, frankly if you don't like it then part of your brain must have stopped working I've met alot of sceptics but not a single one didn't like it after trying it.

Also littlebigplanet is definatly worth you're money but lbp2 is coming out so if you prefer to wait, by all means.

Just because it needs another recommendation, Uncharted (especially 2).
Demon's souls is neat if you're into dark RPGs and like a challenge.
For shooters you've got Killzone 2 and Resistance 1/2.
Infamous is a great game,
Little Big Planet is a great game.
God of War 3 is worth playing.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is pretty neat too.

I haven't played Heavy Rain, but I'm sure it'll be highly recommended.

Looks like some good suggestions so far. I'm definitely going to look into Heavy Rain and Little Big Planet: they're the kinda games that I think the playstation does well. God of War looks a good investment too, I just lament that it isn't on the Xbox as, for some reason, it just strikes me as an Xbox kinda game... As for Ratchet and Clank, the look like a laugh but I just immediately think "Banjo Kazooie" and would just end up playing on that

What's the deal with RPGs in Playstation Land? I imagine there's a lot of obscure J titles out there... anything Fantasy or Sci-Fi worth a look?

This is the third thread about this I've seen since yesterday. ._.
Oh well, I recomend The Sly Collection, Prince of Persia triology, God of war Collection if you don't have them for PS2. As for PS3 game exclusives; God of War III, the Ratchet & Clank games except for Quest for Booty, Demon's Souls(the game hates you, but it's rather fun) and MGS4 if you like the previous games and don't mind a looong movie.
The ICO Collection should be out around May/April according to what I've seen. A Splinter Cell collection also comes out around the same time!

Just got a PS3 for Christmas, I've been enjoying the hell out of it so far:

MGS4 (Possibly the best game I've ever played, but not as good to non-fans)

Little Big Planet (Have been playing this with my girlfriend, it's absolutely fantastic)


Those are pretty much my two exclusives so far.

I don't even own a PS3, but my second favorite game of all time is Uncharted 2. I have no bias towards the PS3, it's simply my decision to love Uncharted 2 to death. You may hear people say "It's overrated and it sucks and I hate it and blah blah blah, why did I just say blah three times?" but in actuality, if you play the thing without anything up your ass telling you to prejudge every little thing about it rather than just have fun, you'll enjoy it immensely. I guess since that last sentence was written as "fact", I may have doomed your opinion of it... So, sorry.
