[HEADING=1]-The Road To Indigo-[/HEADING]

Hello there, young trainers! My name is Professor Oak, but you can call me the Pokemon Professor! Even though it's longer than my actual name! This world is inhabited far and wide by Pokemon! But coming from all over the place, you probably all knew that! I study Pokemon for a living, and I am proud to share my expertise on the subject with you! Now I know you don't actually need a starter Pokemon, since you all already seem to have one, but still I'm going to explain to you exactly what you are here to do.
You have all come to Kanto for a reason: to take the Pokemon League challenge and become world-class trainers! You all have your own reasons, and honestly, I don't care what they are, but I can tell you it will be a long, dangerous journey. Not only will you have to traverse rough terrain, and swim over the oceans, but evil people, calling themselves Team Rocket will be around as well, attempting to give you a lot of trouble, but you can just overcome them with your spirit! Yes I'm sure of it! Now, go off on your journey everyone! The world of Pokemon is yours to explore!

Author: That's enough rambling from Grandpa there. Forgive him, he's getting up there in years. All right then, this is indeed a Pokemon based RP, to go along with the handful or so already up. This is different though. This is a reboot, based on a Pokemon RP I was in back in the day, when I was just starting out on the site, and was nowhere near as good. It's a much darker tone than the actual series, Pokemon die, people die, despite what 4Kids wanted people to believe. So this won't be a romp through the Safari Zone. I will be GMing, and as Co-GM I am happy to report that I have one of the main forces from initial RP, as well as the full GM for the sequel to said RP, Mookie_Magnus! *applause* Yes. Anyway, he has the same amount of power I do, we will be discussing story arcs and what we want to do with them, respect him as such! This probably leads nicely into the Rules section.
1. If you're sending in a sheet for this RP, I expect you to send it in and then actually follow through on the character, and post regularly. If you disappear for a lengthy amount of time, I will not hesitate to kill your character off. And I will do it in an embarrassing way. I'm talking a Weedle stinging you to death.
2. When you post, I expect certain standards of the English language to be hit. I'm no Grammar Nazi, but textspeak? Not happening. Also, if you could try and post more than two sentences per post, that would be great. I know there are certain situations where one sentence is all you can put, but those are few and far between.
3. This is an RP, not a chance for you to be a God among men. I have an extreme dislike for Godmodders, and if I catch you doing it, I will nerf you so hard little kids will be throwing your head around for fun. Also, if you got an idea for how you would like the story to go, that's great. I would love to hear it. However if you try to turn the RP into an all-about-you ego fest, again, nerfing/booting will occur.
4. Romance? Perfectly fine. Hell I encourage it. Just remember though, that kids are present on the internets, so if you're going to get up to anything that can't be shown on the Disney channel, then either take it to PM or just time skip over it. Everyone will be happy, and I won't have suburban soccer moms calling for my head.
5. Posting rules & symbols: Italics = Thought in the person's head. Bold = Altered Voice. Also, anything OOC that you want to post should be done in spoiler tags = (spoiler)(/spoiler) (only with square brackets.) Please keep posts in the third person as well.
6. Um...no running with scissors? That's probably a good rule.

All right, now that we've dealt with that, let's move onto the character sheet! Now I'm anticipating quite a few sheets, so we will be picking the best ones to be included in this RP. We will be looking for diversity as well as actual RPing ability with these, so try and be creative and stuff. I wish to be entertained.
Name: (Duh.)
Age: (Keep it between 10-21, please)
Gender: (I would like to have an even ratio for this if possible).
Hometown: (Can be anywhere, but everyone's starting in Pallet.)
Appearance: (I want to see actual descriptions here. Pictures tell me nothing about what I want to know.)
Personality: (Tell us what kind of person you are, and I will say right off the bat that weird loners who talk about pointy things and killing things, probably won't be invited into the group.)
Profession: (Trainer? Breeder? Coordinator? You can do whatever you want, as long as it's already a defined role, or you tell me what you want to do.)
Talents: (Any kind of special talent you might have, but be reasonable. For example: Excellent cook = good. 15 year old assault rifle specialist = bad.)
Inventory: (Again, be reasonable here. Again for example: Pokeballs, Potions and a sleeping bag = good. $100000, a car and an nuke = bad.)
Starter Pokemon: (Everyone's getting one Pokemon at Lvl 5 to start. I don't care where it's from, but it's gotta be the first stage of an evolving Pokemon.)
Biography: (Give us a little backstory. What made you the person you are today? Anything interesting happen in your life? Read any good books? You know how it goes.)
Notes/Other: (Anything else you want to mention that's relevant that I forgot to mention before hand.)

I'm looking for around 8 people including myself and Mookie to participate in this RP so spots are limited! I'll close off the sheet submission on Monday, February 6th!
Update: Due to Mookie_Magnus bowing out of the RP, CounterAttack has been promoted to the Co-GM slot.

Name: Jordan Kelly
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Hometown: Fuchsia City
Appearance: Jordan is a tall, tanned Caucasian, standing at 6'3, a fairly average looking young man. He's got shaggy, dirty blond hair and blue eyes, nothing remarkable about his clothes either. He wears a black and ocean blue Fuchsia Sharks baseball hat, a black t-shirt worn underneath a gray hooded zip-up sweatshirt, a pair of blue jeans and a beaten up pair of gray sneakers. He has a pair of ray-ban sunglasses he will wear when conditions are appropriate, and he wears a Sharpedo tooth hanging from some string around his neck because it "looked cool."
Personality: Jordan is what you would call a "beach bum". Laid back, not really caring a lot about anything, just out for a good time. More interested in surfing than training, he doesn't really try to push his Pokemon at all. He's got a good heart and will try to help, if it doesn't take much effort, but in the end, he'd still prefer just relaxing on the sand.
Profession: Trainer
Talents: He is an excellent surfer, he wants to get a Water Pokemon so he can learn how to surf on top of it, but he has yet to find one that is good enough.
Inventory: 5 Pokeballs, 3 Potions, Sleeping Bag, Frying Pan (perfect for Beach BBQs). He's traveling light, partially because it makes easier to travel, partially because he couldn't be bothered to bring anything else.
Starter Pokemon: Scyther, named Vince
Biography: Jordan was born and raised in Fuchsia City, the son of a Safari Zone ranger and a housemaker. His father's job kept him away from the house at all hours of the day and night, he had to be ever vigilant and on the watch for poachers. His mother resented him for staying away from the house so much, and raised Jordan to avoid Pokemon, saying they sucked the life out of people. This point was only further hammered home during his first swim in the ocean. He had gotten away from the beach a little bit and a Tentacool stung him hard. He was quickly pulled to safety, but he had sworn off Pokemon for good.
He remained steadfast in his beliefs, his mother was very happy, his father couldn't tell what had happened. It stayed that way until his parents when on a long overdue workation to the Sevii islands for a couple months and 13 year old Jordan was left to stay with his uncle, who lived on the Fuchsia Beach. His uncle was an avid surfer and Jordan came out with him every day, mostly because it was summer, and everything on TV sucked. His Uncle would go out there almost every day on his Blastoise, surfing the good waves that crashed on the Kanto shores. Jordan was still a bit frightened from his earlier experiences with the ocean, but when his uncle hoisted him aboard that Turtle Pokemon and he felt the spray of the water hitting his face, he knew he found something he could truly enjoy. He started going out with his uncle, but since he didn't have a Pokemon, he just used a surfboard. He was a fast learner and he would keep going out with his uncle every chance he could get after that. He had slight ambitions to get a Pokemon like his uncle, but it didn't really matter now. He was enjoying the thrills he got when surfing. When he wasn't out riding the waves, he was hanging out on the beach with other like-minded teens, but it wasn't going to last.
His parents grew weary of his laissez-faire attitude around the house. It had been two years since he graduated high school and he showed no ambition to do a thing with his life. He would stay out on the beach like he always did. There was a huge fight between his parents one night when Jordan was down at a beach bonfire. His father figured he had the perfect solution and his mother was so opposed to it she started throwing china around. When Jordan finally returned from his little party, his father was sitting there, waiting for him, surrounded by a sea of shattered porcelain. On the kitchen table was an egg. His father told him that since Jordan didn't seem to want to pick his path, his father would pick it for him. He was going to be flown out the next day by his father's Fearow, to Pallet, where he would be registered for the Pokemon League challenge. The egg contained his Pokemon. Jordan would have no say in the matter, and if he ever wanted to return home, he had better get cracking on the League path. It would be a rough ride. Jordan mustered what little protests he could, but it was no use. Jordan was taken to the tiny town in the West part of Kanto and stranded there. No money, no way home, just the clothes on his back, a few meager supplies and the egg his father had given him. Soon after he arrived, the egg hatched, revealing that his dad had at least given him a good start, a Scyther appearing before him. He was disappointed it wasn't a Water Pokemon, but the little guy was showing a fair amount of spirit. Jordan named him Vince and decided if he was going to have to fight his way back home, he better start now, so he could get back out on the waves he loved as quickly as possible.
Notes/Other: His uncle is the famed Surfing Guru of Fuchsia Beach.

Notes/Other: His uncle is the famed Surfing Guru of Fuchsia Beach.
Name: Rochelle (Jane) Sanders
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Hometown: Goldenrod City, Johto
Appearance: Rochelle is Caucasian, 5'7" tall, with green eyes and dark red hair that reaches down past her shoulders. She is not the strongest or toughest person that people will meet, but her endurance has been built up by her travels and (fairly) heavy weight that she has had to carry around. She wears practical, lightweight clothing, and normally ties her hair back with a black bandanna.
Personality: Rochelle is normally a bright, cheerful person, spreading cheer wherever she goes. She befriends people and Pokemon easily once she gets to know them, and is not one to hold a grudge. She is a quick thinker, able to react to changing situations effectively.
Rochelle will sometimes value the safety of her friends, and/or their Pokemon, above that of her own in times of crisis.
Profession: Trainer
Talents: Rochelle can sometimes talk her way out of a difficult situation. In addition, due to her experiences when travelling from Johto to Kanto on her own, she can tell the difference between most edible and inedible foods. Rochelle also knows basic field medicine.
Inventory:
- Map of Kanto
- Map of Johto
- 3x Poke Balls, a gift from Rochelle's parents.
- 2x Potions, also a gift.
- Sleeping bag
- High-powered flashlight
- Safety firelighter
- Small first-aid kit with limited supplies
- A week's worth of clothing and other personal items
- $500 in cash, and a debit card linked to a bank account containing $2500.
Rochelle's inventory is carried in a large backpacker's pack.
Starter Pokemon: Kirsten, a female Horsea.
Biography: Rochelle was born and raised in Goldenrod City (Johto region), living with her parents Dayna and Jonathan. She had a good life growing up, her parents being careful to give her a good education in addition to a healthy social life. She learned about Pokemon quickly, who they were, what they could do, and the various types and species of the creatures.
At the age of 18, once her high-school education was complete, Rochelle made the decision to begin a career as a Pokemon Trainer. She left Goldenrod with her parents' blessing and a pack full of clothes and equipment, and the advice to visit Professor Oak in the Kanto region. She spent six months travelling across Johto, bought a ride on the SS Aqua to Vermilion City, and made her way to Pallet Town to begin her journey proper. Rochelle spent most of her time between cities living rough, sleeping under the stars and foraging for food whenever she had the chance.
On the way to the small town, she met a wounded Horsea in a lake near Cerulean City and nursed her back to health, not wanting to see the young Pokemon suffer without her help. The Water-type took the act as a sign of friendship, and began to cry when Rochelle continued on her way; Rochelle quickly turned and came back, trying to console the Pokemon, but the wild Horsea made it obvious that she wanted Rochelle to stay. While Rochelle had never met Pokemon up close as a child, she grew to like the Horsea and accepted her as her first ever Pokemon, naming her Kirsten. The two reached a compromise in the form of a Poke Ball, and Rochelle took Kirsten with her on her journey to Pallet Town.
