I thought Amnesia was the scariest game I have ever played. Then again, I rarely play horror games, maybe occasionally a survival horror.

I didn't really find Amnesia all that scary to be honest I don't know why I just didn't.

i played The Mummy (the videogame) when i was in 1st grade.
Couldn't proceed after hearing the first sounds of mummies
The sound at about 2:30.
Suffice to say i went into a frenzy of clicking to kill those abominations.

Theres a bit in Clive Barker's Jericho where a huge bat... thing picks you up, screeches at you, and then drops you from about 20 feet in the air.

The thing with me is that most horror games lose their "horror" the moment I am handed a gun, or a weapon of some sort. Even with a single pistol, I gain enough confidence and power to tread forward without any real fear. I become the hunter (Yes, I know, that sounds really childish, but still).
But with Amnesia, I was never given that single weapon. I never became the hunter, I was only a simple prey.

Minecrafts only scary part is its silly mob spawning system. Creepers keep spawning behind my back when I mine, or inside my castle. And always when I return to my castle, it is filled with cows, chickens and sheep, just because I havent been able to get rid of the grass just yet.

Right I'll give it another go. I'm always itching to scare myself while playing games

Why don't you tell us what your scariest experience was? Not trying to be rude, but everytime a thread like this comes up the OP usually doesn't actually contribute their own experience. I just don't get why.

Anyways, I don't play many horror games on account of being a massive coward, so the scariest thing for me would be from my childhood. In Super Mario 64 I was deathly afraid of the eel in Jolly Roger Bay. Now of course this wouldn?t scare me nowadays, but back then it was terrifying. The most afraid I have ever felt in a game was when I was forced to bait it out of the ship. It took me 20 minutes to finally work up the courage to do it.

I really don't get this. I recently bought Minecraft, and I don?t see how its scary. It?s a bit unnerving at times, but not scary.

Chapter 2 of Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Being chased by the fishmen out of the hotel. I think there are few game experiences as harrowing as that 5 minute section.

I was running around, exploring, and there was this dark patch. "Awww Heck no!" I thought to myself. "I'm gonna have to put some torches in there!"

One of those spooky ambience sounds play, and much to my horror, two creepers crawl out of the shadows and chase me.

Skeletons scare me too. They appear out of nowhere andstart shooting my face. >___<

And have you ever had a zombie jump on your face? Not fun, I can tell you that.

Could you mention some games that make you scared if any do, then? Just interested.

Yeah I've experienced all those things, but they're not really scarry. Sure it's startling when a creeper blows up behind you, but that's not true horror. It's just surprising. Any game can be surprising.

I really hate skeletons to though. Hate them more than creepers. Mainly because skeletons love shooting you from above, and their arrows are to damn loud. Always freaks me out the first time one of them shoots me.

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl...travelling at night, just can't help but think that there's someone or something that'll jump and kill me. Meeting fellow stalkers is the best thing that'll ever happen to you if you're traveling at night.

Hmm... The log cabin in Condemned 2 was tense. I remember playing a game when I was younger called 40 Winks on PS1 and I was so scared but I was like 5 so I don't know if that really counts.

I probably would have said Fatal Frame 2.

But I have to say the first time I got deep into Minecraft. It was kind of funny, I spawned on this tiny little island, I made a boat, tried finding mainland but couldn't. So, I mined. I had worked on this mine for awhile, I went to build a tower on my tiny island, and I spotted a coast in the distance.

So I got my boat and made my way there. While on my tiny island, and in its mine, I had never encountered a monster. I was questioning if I was even in survival mode (first minecraft game, I didn't know any better). I made it to shore, it around sunset, and I bring mining... *UGH! screen flashes red* I had been hit by something. I turn around, and I this this goofy green man running at me hissing... he exploded.
