All xbox 360 slim users be warned. There is a new epidemic that is coming. It is the Red dot of death. It is a hard drive crash that is called e68. When you take out your hard drive there is no problem but when you put it in you can do nothing. Make sure you back up your saves. If it already happened to you recover your profile onto another hard drive or use a USB drive. Sadly this happened to me yesterday so I had to deal with that crap. For discussion value. What do you think of the red dot of death? Would you care if you lost your game data? Would through your xbox into a volcano if this happens to you?

Is this a common problem? Because physical head crashes like that have been rare for decades, pretty much only happening when your hard drive is very old and has been heavily mistreated. If this is a common problem with the slims, some clean room somewhere has some explaining to do, because it just should not be happening.

One would actually be surprised how many RRods and RDODs are caused by this.

The solution is to in fact NOT take the hard drive out while the system is on.

Honestly, would you take the hard-drive out of your computer while it was still running?

Also, misleading thread title there.

I may not have provided much info. I keep my slim in a nice roomy space that is cool and clean. I never touched the hard drive until I took it out when the system was off when I was doing some investigating for what was going on. It works fine with no hard drive in it. It seems to be a hard drive problem. It seems to be becoming a more common problem since I checked other forums and of course youtube and a lot of people seem to be having this issue. Yeah that title is misleading now that I think about it
