What is the longest any of you have kept a family of sims happy for? (Real time) I only lasted 2 hours of playtime before my sims got depressed... I never did really like that game... Anyways, lets see who lasted the longest.

I managed OK for several generations of sims in Sims2 until the last in the line died during pregnancy and the family died off.

about one day of game time, then they just started acting really stupid...
the classic scenario on the sims is this:
I need the toilet!
*clicks on toilet*
I have too low hygiene to use it!
WTF? *clicks to wash hands in sink*
While washing hands they wet themselves, and then gain even lower hygiene and cry about it.
They have just about enough time to clean up their mess, then they collapse from hunger.
Then when they wake up the glorious cycle begins again.
No matter how much attention I gave them that always happened to me.

I do know a chick who has generations of the little craps, she gets them happy enough to breed!

Madness, not to mention she can kick my ass at SSBB... but so can most people so thats not exactly an achievment.

I just build 1-square rooms i like to call 'the hole' and lock them in there, occasionally setting it on fire.

Oho, cant lay down, sleep standing up in your shit! the glee!

Quite a while, I wouldn't have an exact figure for you though. I'm prety sure if the Sims was a competitve sport, I'd be the world champion. I used to have an addiction to the game, but it's not so bad now. Only about 5 hours a week, down from about 50.

I was always in it for the money, not the family. Should we have a baby? NO! If it can't work, it's not welcome!

I did used to be a bit obsessed, though, but I'm all better now.

You think I LIKED having such a big family?

Then again, the mansion was nice.

Niiiice... I ended up with a mansion of my own, all it did was make the family hate the layout.

Ah, I always used to give up on Sims as soon as a baby was born, i did not find taking care of the thing fun at all, I mean video games are meant to entertain not frustrate beyond belief.

I once managed to get a baby into a child, but only after burning the social worker to death. Crazy days.

Yeah, The Sims never really did it for me. I just didn't get into it. I usually just put a guy in a small room with a microwave and a hamster, hoping against odds that he would get hungry enough and cook it.

I think my missus had a single family for the first 6 months of playing that game, the family tree in the end was bigger than mine.

She tends to be pretty good at keeping them alive.

About 5 minutes. My girlfriend is skilled with her sims though and always seems to have happy little families pottering about in giant mansions...

I used to get about 5 mins into it before I abandoned those sims and started building another house; my favorite part of the sims.

But then we got the business expansion and I actually had fun with that, even made it through a couple of generations with the store and made some good simoleans.

In the original sims.. hmm without cheats like 5 hours probably. once you get rolling all u do is play catch up and call people and throw parties and use every resource from every expansion to try and stay somewhat in the green. WHich is why that games pretty much sucks. Sims 2 however ive gone like 3 generations before just starting over or slaughtering them out of pure amusement. The mods keep that game very interesting and overall the 2nd was alot more enjoyable . looking forward to the 3rd. But i'm afraid ill have very little time to sit down for hours on end to play it. I'll prob wait a few months and pick it up once some halfway decent mods show up.

Longest I could go was up until my kid turned into a teen on Sims 2, then I'd get bored and move on to something else. I'm looking forward to Sims 3, but I'll be getting it on console if they keep SecuROM on the PC version.
