Now that I have your attention, teddiefilms made a spoof of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know," The spoof pretty much sums up all the frustration the fans have with the changes to movie series and we finally get to hear Lucas's viewpoint on the matter.

Enjoy

Rather than make a new thread on the subject, I'll post here. I just saw this video, it's fantastic, and I don't think it counts as thread necromancy when I bring this back to page 1?

No, not today. Not today, I've fallen out of love with Wars.

That was hilarious. Something weird, though: the guy in the original video looked more like Hayden Christianson than the guy in the parody. I think it's because the guy in the original had long hair like he did in episode 3, which framed his face better and covered up the differences a bit, while the one in the parody was going for the Padawan rat tail look, which is right up there with shaving your head for showing off every little difference in the shape of one skull from another.

I never found the original series that great, sorry.
It was all very basic and children movie esque and thats why all the people who ***** about the series sound to me like... children.

4-basic hero story, slightly rushed near the end

5-better, nice feed of exposition, leads to a somewhat cool confrontation and revelation.

6-lame, ties up loose ends of episode 5 and the story well but doesnt do much else.(they had another death star and it gets blown up? Ewoks defeat storm troopers?).

Have you seen the unaltered versions? Because if not, call back after you have. The first movie in particular was screwed up by the edits, and it has less to do with Han shooting first than it does with the extra scenes screwing up the pacing.

I can't comment on #5 or 6 since I haven't seen them in forever, but for #3 that's always felt like a poor complaint to me. The complexity of the story doesn't matter, it's whether or not you care about the characters making the journey.

For #6 though, that's the least critically praised of the trilogy, and the movie where Lucas had the most creative control. I think many of the complaints you had are shared by the fans.
