What's the stupidest/wierdiest/funniest thing that you or someone has said when buying something at a videogames store?

When I bought my copy of Halo 3 at EB Games the guy at the desk asked for which console.

"Hmm, it says 18 on the box and you're only 10..."
"But mum! I reeeaaally want it!"
"Oh ok then."

-The 10 year old getting GTA IV

I was queueing up at the time, resisting the urge to yell at the stupid woman.

Do you have any I.D?

This happens every time I buy a 15 rated game. I'm almost 17. I usually carry my passport around now.

It sucks when you're over-age. I've never had it happen directly to me, only friends (yet), as I can usually pass as 18 for buying pretty much anything. (I'm 16)

Gah poo stupid. I wouldn't even let me play it if I was my own mother and she gives it to a 10 year old. People these days...

I bought Indianna Jones LEGO for the PS3 and the guy at EB games who served me said, "This game is really mega fun". I just smiled and walked out. Who says "really mega fun"?

"Are you sure this will work on your PC?"

Even when buying games that are several years old.

I know they have to ask, but it really irritates me every time. I wouldn't be buying the game if I didn't know I could run it.

It always feels like a "This coffee is hot" moment.

I think we should get gamers ID. You know similar to when over 21's look younger so they can get drinkers ID to get served. It would help in my case (I'm short :/ )

-walked in to the store, pick up Okami-

Game clerk: "Wow Okami, wouldn't you rather get 50 Cents new game?"

Me: "Wouldn't you rather live in 2009? It's that new ~street thing~... every body's doing it..."

Same. A lot of people mistake me for 20+ when I'm only 16 too.

That's good and bad, because while I can easily buy 18+ games (and two years ago, 15+/18+ games like Diablo 2 or Witcher), but when I'm in a bus and they ask if I have an I.D., I have to carry it around all the time in order to use cheaper tickets.

I feel like an idiot when I have to pull out my ID. Thats why I grow stubble for a day or two before buying liquor.

Ah here 16 is adult age for bus & train tickets. But I'm trying to get me some student ID for discount travel now. It sucked when I was 15, asking for a child ticket and the usual reaction was "You? A child?" all the way up to "I'll have to give it to you, but you'll be arrested for fraud y'know". But it does come in useful as I'm the guy who can buy booze and cigarettes for people.

I choose to have a beard (it's a chin-duster), so I'm fine :D

Ok, I'll stop derailing your thread now.

A couple of years ago in gaming section a little kid ran over to the games and took out Starwars Repuclic Commando and went all like "Can I have this game? It's where you are a robot who kills other robots!" And his dad was just like "No." Hilarious.

You should have hit him. Boring Gears of War clone with an annoying rapper as the protagonist; or beautiful, artistic game which is unlike anything that has ever been made before or since?

Tough call.

This reminds me of that situation where a woman bought GTA: San Andreas for her 12-year-old (I think) son. Within a couple of days whe came back to the shop, criticising the staff because she'd seen her son killing people in the game. You bought it for him, you stupid woman!

I really hate people who do this, because they're almost always the ones who blame videogames for corrupting their children, when all they're actually doing is trying to find a scapegoat for their bad parenting.

We don't have such a thing as "adult age" for tickets. You can use cheaper ones if you are:

a) under 3
b) student in any class, from kindergarden to university/college.
c) war veteran
d) retired
e) deaf or blind
f) Honorary Blood Donor.

So unless you look like you are pre-18, you must carry ID or other paper saying you are entitled to the cheaper tickets.

I was buying a game and I saw that the checkout girl was hot-ish (yes, I know). So I bought the game and then asked if her number was included in the package.

What can I say, I'm a smooth criminal.
