...what are they? What keeps you looking over your shoulder, checking under your bed at night and taking other such precautionary measures over completely irrational things?

Ninja's out to get you? The person walking behind you really a CIA agent? Axe murderers in the garden shed? Cthulhu in the attic?

Late night parking lots. For example, I went to see 2012 the other day (good movie, BTW), alone. Walking back to the car, parked in the middle of a large, empty, dark parking lot, I was constantly looking to the sides because of a nagging feeling that some monster would come charging at me from the dark. After getting into the car I locked the doors.

Also, I can't really go into a garden during the night, 'cause velociraptors will jump at me from the bushes.

Ever read 'Salem's Lot? If not, do so.

You will never leave your window unlocked at night again.

Is that the scene where that kid is outside the window?

Leatherface from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I've actually had a few nightmares about that guy, go figure.

When I was a little kid I had the fear of opening the fridge at night. The culprit? Ghostbusters.

Going up the basement stairs at night after I've turned the lights off since I'm going to bed. I have no idea what it is but my body tells me to just start running until I'm safely behind the door of my bedroom.

Furries, they scare the hell outta me.

and there is also a song that describes other things, which will most likely be the same case.
Have you ever been alone in the dark, walking down the street or laying in your bed wide awake?
Have you ever felt like you werent alone? Have you ever heard noises, noises that had come from an unidentifiable source? Have you ever felt like you were being watched?
Listen to the lyrics.

When I'm sitting on my couch, watching the Television, I'll look behind me, multiple times per show.

Something that else scares me is the after-life, or lack of it. I stay up nights, wondering how the earth will be without me, and how I'll feel, if anything.

I find that most people (myself included)can feel somewhat unnerved in the dark especially in an open environment or by windows (not the OS).

Ghosts, thats my thought. Only way to deal with it, is to go into the dark corners of the house. That feeling though, of someone watching from the bathroom down the hall at night makes me want to check out ever inch of the house before bed.
