Where are we going in terms of consoles and hand held devices? We are about to get a new wave of consoles that are hand held and they rival the home consoles. The iPhone is starting to get some quality games. Hell even android is about to get more games. This new wave of "consoles" give you more than just games they give you access to the internet, media player, apps. What´s going to happen in the future?

Do you think that at some point there's going to be one device that has everything? An ultimate gaming machine, a device that has everything ready to go and the only difference will be to who you subscribe (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Apple?) to get the selection of games you want to buy? Maybe you wont even need hardware maybe all you get is a very fast internet connection capable of streaming any new game, movie , TV show directly to your home. I feel that it would be like kinda sad, it would mean the standardization of the medium in one had everyone would have the chance to work with the same resources in the other hand there wouldn't be any room for creativity because they all would use the same platform. So what do you think? What's the far future of gaming consoles?

If there was one single platform for gaming, it would have to be one like a PC, where there are loads of manufacturers for the parts because monopolies are bad.

But with the sheer amount of power we are able to pack into a device these days, it's easy to see much more portable devices with the same computing powers as a desktop with in the next decade or two.

But will there ever be one single platform for gaming, I highly doubt it and honestly it's not something I'd want to happen.
