I've done a lot of thinking, and the only thing I can conceive as being a counter against a robot/machine uprising would be large-scale cloning of physically perfect human beings. I know the moral implications are terrible and wrong, but in a war to save our species and billions of lives would probably be to mass produce soldiers, engineers, and human weapons in order to fight the robot menace. Genetic engineering to make these clones close to superhuman would also possibly come into play, but as Yatzee has said before, super soldiers ultimately also lead to disaster. So for now let's stick with regular human clones in top physical condition, with growth accelerated until they hit their prime and then decelerated.
This leads to disposing of the clones after the war is won. Some will be allowed to stay in the armed forces, even becoming generals. The rest will either have to be destroyed via a fatal gene sequence or allowed to populate seperate worlds in order to save the normal human gene pool. I know it's monstrous to think of such a thing, but it must be done. Plus clone babies would probably all kinds of fucked up.

What do you all think? Anything to add to this strategy or problems with it? What do you think the ultimate weapon would be?

I would continue to say emp. But my inbox might not survive. So i'm going to change my idea to "art".

If we make the machines appreciate art, then they won't have to kill us. They will be us.

Cookie for reference. Except if you quote me i won't give you the cookie. Because i'll hate you for cluttering my inbox. So you'll just have to enjoy an imaginary internet-cookie.

Or we could nuke the machines...

Seriously you kinda missed Yahtzee's point about the super soldiers.

Microwave oven.

Put metal in there, it fucks it up good an' proper. No sentient can opener gonna mess with me when I'm carrying on of these portable bad boys.

On a more serious note, the notion of an EMP blast is popular for a reason...

or just drop an EMP....

you know, instead of looking for technology we dont have yet, we could just...well...use the one we do?

What if all your clones turn against you, kill everyone and take over the world?
The world would be full of either male or female clones and they wouldn't be able to reproduce themselves, except if they clone themselves. Which means they world would be full of the same guy/girl, and what if all the clones were Keira Knightey and I would come out of my basement and turn out to be the only survivor.....

Clones sound like heaven

Does anyone know how to generate an EMP without a nuclear explosion? It's a fabby-doo sci-fi weapon but I'm sure there are some serious engineering issues to be solved before we start handing out hand-held versions.

Me? I'd use Scraplets. [http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Scraplet]
