Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told department employees that he may be green-lighting work on the wall to plug "gaps" in the current wall.

“The president has communicated quite clearly his decision that the emergency that triggered the devotion of DOD funds to the construction of the border wall is ended. But that leaves room to make decisions as the administration, as part of the administration, in particular areas of the wall that need renovation, particular projects that need to be finished."

Those plans include filling "gaps," installing "gates" and adding technology to parts of the wall that have been finished but have not been outfitted.
Why does adding technology make me think of smart turrets with camera tracking?

Mr Biden has not always been opposed to building boundaries at the border; as a senator, he voted to approve 700 miles of border fencing, and served as vice president under Barack Obama while 100 miles of that fencing was under construction.

Well, at least when someone from America complains about not having enough money to pay for all the refugees we can just point to the wall to show how much of a lie that is

Lose 1d20 sanity points.
I really don't get the wall thing, I live near the border and there's literally a part of the wall that has a door on it closed with an easily cut with pliers chain, not to mention that even I could jump it with a ladder and rope and I'm not even in great shape, seems like a waste of money, they should probably just abandon the whole project, it's completely useless, besides we already don't cross unless we're desperate because we know the border patrol can murder us even if we're in México and completely get away with it even if there was no reason for the aggression and the person wasn't even crossing the border.

Sunk cost fallacy.
Or they wanted it all along too just they wanted to build it.

"I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in," Clinton told an audience at a campaign stop Nov. 9, 2015. "And I do think you have to control your borders."

This shit doesn't even really happen overland any more. That stupid fucking wall is a 1990's answer to a 2020's problem. Damn near ever illegal entry happens through border crossings and ports of call. The last time I saw clamor over securing ports of call was after 9/11 when the US government collectively shit its pants over bananas and brazil nuts (no that's not metaphor, that actually happened).

Forget about the single biggest source of undocumented immigrants in the US today: labor importation via work visa abuse. But god forbid the US government lift a pinky to do anything which might mildly inconvenience parasitic and exploitative corporations. Or, god forbid, we as a country ask ourselves where these people are coming from and why they're coming here in massive refugee waves (hint: we caused this shit).

Even if there was an insistence on controlling land border there are way better solutions, incorporating drones (non-weaponized) and heat imaging would be way more useful than a bleeding wall.

Crossing a wall won't take more than a couple of minutes or so, and that sure isn't going to hinder anyone. Manned stations will prevent crossings, but there is no way a government will pay to have guards stationed all along the border.

Oh right you just build it somewhat in secret without being honest and open about it right.......
Obama said he was going to build a wall. He built the wall.

He just didn't call Mexicans murders and rapist

Just to be clear. Obamas wall failed too. That's why he tried using the Mexican army to police their borders and that's what worked. It's why the Dems knew that Trump's wall wasnt going to work. THEY'D ALREADY TRIED IT

Which Trump didn't either. Just some those trying to get across illegally.

Also I don't think there's some deal to reinstate and pay for Mexico to police it's border so Bidens plan seems to just be the wall so far.

Yah what now?

Okay. You got me. He said Mexican IMMIGRANTS were rapist. So different...

As to pay the army of Mexico to police its borders. After all tearing up of treatise Trump did, no one trust the US to fulfil on their end of their bargain. No one is going to think Biden is going to make things better. Biden has just stop drilling holes in the dam. There's still all the holes from the last 4 years and Biden is doing diddly squat about fixing any of that
