The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Debuts Epic Intro Cinematic

CD Projekt Red shows off their epic opening cinematic for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Debuting at the Golden Joystick Awards, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/%20cd%20projekt%20red]. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will actually be the conclusion to the story of The Witcher main character Geralt of Rivia, an amnesic monster hunter with an uncanny knack for getting wrapped up in larger issues. Story details are still a little stretchy, but so far we know that the game will deal with the Wild Hunt, an mythical force connected to Geralt's past, and this specific trailer is about another character connected to Geralt, the sorceress Yennefer.

Akin to The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition's cinematic intro [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRKasf_wN1M], this trailer doesn't feature Geralt extensively. We see Yennefer escaping or fleeing through a battlefield, wrecking havoc with anyone unfortunate enough to slow her down. She unleashes some pretty impressive, and gruesome, magical feats in her quest to get away. Granted, I probably wouldn't want to be stuck in the middle of a cavalry charge either. This inter cuts with quick scenes of the grizzled and bearded Geralt following the clues to track her.

And holy crap, did that guy just get killed by a bird bursting through his head!?!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/miracle-of-sound/9503-Wake-the-White-Wolf-The-Witcher-3-Wild-Hunt-Song] promises to be a bigger open world experience, "20% bigger than Skyrim", rather than being segmented into smaller sections like previous Witcher games. Look for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt early next year, Feb 24. It will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

I already have this on preorder.
It is a bit sad that they intend this to be the last game, Geralt is one of my favourrite characters in fiction.
But, based on their "Witcher" Projects, CD Project RED will come up with a new amazing thing.

Personally, I'm not that sad about it because I love me some Cyberpunk.

Nothing new lately seeing as most of their marketing is probably directed at The Witcher 3, but we've known they've been working on it for a while now - http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117529-CD-Projekt-Red-Reveals-Cyberpunk

Same. I mean, I like the Witcher just as much as the next guy but I think I am more excited for their future IP than I am for this. Going to play the shit out of this still :p

Only game I am looking forward to right now!

Damn... the thing to conclude both a book and a game series... I R hyped (this may end up hurting :))...

Yen looked badass.
Well, the games are non-canon, so if AS decides his bathtub needs a new gold-plating, he might just write a series follow-up that takes things in a completely different direction to the game series.

On the other hand, I think he wants to keep the ambiguous saga ending, so another prequel cash-in like Storm Season might come out before W3-related hype dies.

OT: I actually considered a second pre-order after watching the video, then remembered myself. I already have one from GOG. If the game turns out good, I might very well get a physical copy to go along with it. And another as a gift. And another. And...

I really hate myself when it comes to this franchise, I love how these games look, and I really enjoyed playing them but I couldn't bring myself to finish the first one nor the second one, and probably won't touch this one either. Damn it.

This trailer makes no sense to me.

(uh, spoilers?)

When Geralt spoke with Letho at the end of the Witcher 2 it was said Yennefer was in Nilfgaard, and had been for quite some time, that was the crux for him beginning to head south. Why is she shown here just now crossing the battle lines from Temeria when the war didn't even start until the conclusion of the Witcher 2?

It's also been established sorceress's can teleport (Triss, Sila, and Phillipa use it extensively) and Yennefer obviously hasn't lost her touch, so why is she even risking the journey directly through a battlefield in the first place?

I own a PS4.

It is currently sitting in its box, unopened. It waits... for the Witcher 3.

That said, I found the trailer a little disappointing. No sign of Ciri.

Damn it, if the Witcher 3 doesn't have a Ciri Mode where you play as Ciri, I will write a strongly worded letter to CD Project RED begging them to make Ciri DLC.

Those CD Projekt folk really know how to make good cinematics.

If this whole making Best RPG of the Year Award games doesn't work out for them they can make some animated movies.

Well, as far as I see it, she IS with the Nilfgaardians, coming from the South; THEN runs off... thats why that dude executes her horse Game-of-Thrones-style, to prevent her from escaping, which she does at the end...

The best thing of the intro is the pacing, drawing a paralel between Yenn escaping epic style, with Geralt and Vesemir following the trail afterwards.

Sapkowski is really wishy washy on the legitimacy of the games. Sometimes he says that he admires how other people play with his creations and he wants to see more, and other times he gets annoyed at the changes they make for the sake of adaptation and wants nothing to do with them.

Trailer looks like a repeat of the Battle of Brenna, with the Nilfgaardians kicking the north's ass this time.

There wasn't anything about Nilfgaard among the announced main areas - probably because it is thousands of miles from our usual places. What we also learn is that there was *someone* spilling the beans about the Loge - and she could be the one doing this, as they were not exactly on friendly terms, very bitter peace at best. Doesn't explain everything (not everyone in Loge was an asshole, sorcerers are supposed o have have certain group solidarity against crude laymen), but this is what amnesia could be for. If she is considered an asset AND the emperor himself seems to reside in Temeria in earlier trailer, it wouldn't be too strange to bring her there as well. Alternatively, she had plenty of time to arrange her own escape or to create other reason to be moved.

It needs certain artifacts and/or preparations. If we're talking faster, riskier versions, I recall carrying something representing your destination as a requirement. By "representing" I mean something less generic than "soil from my country" though. Don't ask what I mean specifically because I don't remember the details, just something about teleporting via pearl (?) into random spot of the ocean. This means this method is about teleporting "blindly", with all associated issues you can imagine. That one example was "when no decent alternatives were left", so the risk was justified - while trailer shows that other options were there.

I just pre-ordered the crap out of this game.
Waaaaaaay ahead of you. I think its the only game I've actually checked in on he official website numerous times just to see when it was available for preorder. Preordered the same day it was possible.

Doesnt matter what else is released in 2015 its still my most expected game, and it will be glorious.
