As the title suggests, what is the worst 'best game ever' you have played? Mine would probably be either Street Fighter 2 (any of them) or any of the Half-Life games. Dont get me wrong, I dont hate these games, I just dont think that they are as good as everyone makes them out to be. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

Final Fantasy 7 /Flameshield.

I just didn't think it exceeded it's predecessor in any way, shape, or form. Much like the OP, I don't HATE the game that I chose, I just simply don't regard it as being the greatest game ever made.

What's more, is some of the followers of the game I've encounter. The majority (Can't say all, As I've encounter a few good ones who are open minded) of the fans are appalled at the thought of anybody disagreeing with them, or debating the said topic.

Best. Game. Ever is a statement concieved by fans and as I have learnt everything has one die hard fan so every game is the best game ever to someone. This said I say Turning Point:Fall of Liberty. Sorry if I sound really pretentious.

I'm going to have to agree with the Half-Life games. I've played 2 recently and couldn't get that into it. I do admit that I probably would have gotten into it if I had played them back when they first came out, the fact that I waited this long is most likely the reason I don't like them. Also Halo, now that I think about it, but I know that around this site it's not all that praised.

For the most part though I do tend to enjoy many games that people consider to be among the 'best'.

World of Warcraft. A few of my friends have it and they kept telling me how awesome it is. I played it for a month then quit. Its not a bad game, but its not as fun for me as it is for most people I guess.

Halo 3, So much hype for so little game. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, it just wasn't the greatest game ever like they kept going all out for. Plus the magnitude of media attention the release date got made me think it was the second coming of Christ. In all fairness it was following in the shoes of Bioshock which came out only a month or so before and I love that game.

I agree, also Half-Life 2 was incredibly "meh".

I have to agree, actually.
LBP didn't quite live up to my expectations. But the Editing tools and Endless possibilities involving Creating Maps and such was pretty badass :D

I hated Hate. Love was even worse.

But seriously, who's talking about hate? Not caring for a game doesen't mean you HATE it, just that you didn't care for it. I didn't care too much for FF7, but I'm not attempting it's assassination. And I still own 3 Copies of it!

I agree with Half Life 2 as well...it was fun picking up random things and throwing them at the guards by that wore thin quickly and the rest of the game was very...meh.
Only reason i got it was because of the orange box and team fortress 2.

I have 2.

Halo - Average sci-fi shooter. The story was bland, at best. Controls were pretty tight, which was good. Other than that, it didn't do anything better than Unreal Tournament did 4 years earlier.

Fallout 3 - Terrible blend of FPS with RPG elements. I also never got the point of "Pause the game, aim for head, 75% chance of instant death to creature." Pathfinding was more of a pain than Far Cry 2, and the overall questing and story were dull, to say the least.

3 copies? Hardcore man, I'd say they'd be worth a bit in a few years.

The Half-Life series. One was the best in the series. Everything afterward, while not bad, comes no where close to the first. HL2 quickly became stale for me; even more so when the episodic content started repeating the same ecounters over and over...how many times must we do a sea-saw puzzle Valve? As much as people love to drool over Half-Life and bash on other shooters, primarily Halo, I had much more fun playing just about any other shooter (Halo, CoD, GoW) then playing HL2 and the DLC. And at the end of the day fun is what matters.

Half-Life, while having above-average gameplay, only really shines if you let yourself immerse in the story and get to know the characters. It gets to the point where it's a lot like reading a good book with a little interactiveness thrown in. Also, for its time, the physics engine was so over-the-top, never-before-seen amazing, which gave it about 3,000 novelty points.

i think one reason valve makes us do a see-saw puzzle is that they are proud they made a physics engine. good for them.
