Note that this is not an R&P thread. It's not my intent to discuss the merits of any religions that are discussed, only to analyze an anime in the context of the belief system it portrays. Okay? Okay.

So Yato's kind of a dick to Yukine.

It's mentioned several times in the first half of Noragami Aragoto that "gods can do no wrong." It'd been a while since I'd watched the first season, so I just assumed that they were holy. Not so much. Seeing Yato tempted by money the same way, if not more than Yukine with no consequences, remembering his past and seeing him kill a bunch of people in more recent episodes, made me realize they were actually saying that Noragami's gods are amoral. That is, they can do no wrong because anything they do is acceptable. Contrast this with the God of the Bible who IS the standard of morality rather than looking to a standard or setting the standard. He can do no wrong in the same sense that water can't make you dryer.

BUT, Yukine isn't allowed to lust after those fat stacks of cash.

The BBC has a handy little wiki that tells us that while shinto has no moral absolutes (laws, like "Thou shalt not murder"), some things are bad and cause "impurity:"

"Things which are usually regarded as bad in Shinto are:

things which disturb kami
things which disturb the worship of kami
things which disrupt the harmony of the world
things which disrupt the natural world
things which disrupt the social order
things which disrupt the group of which one is a member"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/shinto/shintoethics/ethics.shtml

So which does wanting a pay raise fall under? Can't be social order, because everyone wants to be paid better and none of the others make sense, so it has to be "things which disturb kami." In other words, things that subjectively annoy Yato.

TL;DR - So is Yato a jerk for being stung by Yukine's "greed" and then lounging around in a big pile of cash? And why do you think regalias in Noragami are held to a higher standard of behavior than living humans or even the gods they serve?
