These fucking badges

Is there a way to turn them off? I don't think I deserve one of these things for watching a couple of videos. I certainly don't deserve to have constant reminders of my amazing achievements stuffed into my PM inbox like so much spam.

I give myself an avatar, I get a badge. Why?
You have a 4th birthday party (Which I wasn't even invited to), I get a badge. Why?
You win some meaningless web award (god knows what for), I get a badge. Why?

Please let me waste time watching silly videos in peace.

Just go in your profile > forum signature and options > disable badges.

Well, It's just a way of being original in comparison to other forums. At least this is the first time I've seen it, and they play more or less the same roles as, say, achievements or trophies, achieving something of moral value for some kind of feat, but which in reality has no practical use, except showing off. And yes, some are really petty, like watching so many videos or getting an avatar (which by the way youm don't seem to have one), but I assume they don't want to make everyone feel badgeless and only the ones that take part in all the escapist activities have the right to wear them.

EdiT: Yeah, you can turn them off in the Profile Settings. Learning new things every day here.

Yeah, some of the badges, especially the newest ones are kind of pointless, but we all secretly like them (our precioussesss).

If you turn them off do you still get notified about getting them?
As that's what he was annoyed about.
