Intro: After sitting down and FINALLY playing the game to the bitter end of the cannon series, I find it necissary to tall of my findings in what is believed to be the finale of one of my favorite Flash games released. Though originally portrayed as nothing but a Madness Interactive ripoff, TT has grown into a force to be reckoned with in the Flash world. It is a beautiful game for what it is, but somehow at the end of it all, I can't get the bitter taste out of my mouth...

Story: The game follows 154, a project of some evil corporation's scheme to make super soldiers. You know, like you do. So in game one he decided that he didn't want to be some evil corp's hound and broke out, murdered a 2 digit number worth of dudes and beat some robot before breaking out into the rest of the world; enter game 2. So now upon the world, you kill a bundle more of dudes and proceed to do god know's what. Quite frankly, the story only really matters in 3 and 4 where you go on a revenge plan to kill everyone responsible for what has happened. The story's rather cookie-cutter for the genre, but atleast it doesn't try to be something it isn't. And don't get me started with the ending. The only good thing that game from it was a great fan fiction idea which I've yet to begin on.

Gameplay: Much has changed in 4, and not all for the better. The large sprawling enviornments from 3 have been broken down by walls which require you to kill a certain number of kills to get through before you can move on, and now that you fight mostly indoors, you have to look out for the ceiling more than you'd want. Also, enemies appear to have pulled their collective head out of their collective ass and now present a challange, which is not helpful now that the game has rebounding health displayed by blood stains. This would only be good if it gave a more concrete display of the health you had, not just guesstimating that this amount of blood translates to this ammount of damage. To continue, you can now only carry two guns and a lead pipe, which I ended up chosing the latter because it's fun to pretend you're an angry hobo going out for revenge for having to live in a box. On the topic of weapons, however, there is a shit load of them, but unfortunatly most of them use different kinds of ammo, instead of the five main types presented in 3 (Pistol, SMG, Rifle, Shotgun, and Magnum). This basically forces you to pick up the weapons your enemies drop, and they aren't always prime pickings. Though it is nice to be able to pick things up, which was left out until now. It plays functionally on my computer at high quality, but I fear that some of the people who play the game on lower quality computers may have trouble playing the game at the highest level, as bullets, shells, grenades, and lasers fly off in every direction and the skulls of a million hired mercs cover the floor.

Graphics: This game is beautilful for a flash game, though I have noticed that the game lacks many different colours. Most of it is black, white, grey, and red, with the occasional blue. Character models are nicely varried, and with the ability to name and make your own character, I proceeded to completly recreate Dr. Peace from No More Heroes. Wonderful crimson liquid spills out of the enemies surreally and leads to a wonderful world of boyish violence. What sets the game apart, however, is the attention to detail. The elevators have your average fair of workplace 'motivation' and the upcoming crazy tie day, and when you are running through an office building shooting enemies around cubicles, it feels as realistic as any of its' consule counter parts.

Replayability: I found out after looking back that there were secret weapons to get for certain milestones and hidden rooms. Besides that, however, speed runs are the only reason to replay. Granted, I got the sword for 500 melee kills, and that wonderful tool is almost enough to replay all by itself.

Sound: I played with mute on. It's just what I do.

Ending Notes: Looking back on it, I can say that I have enjoyed myself, but am left wishing I had a more. Like a cake that just needed a few more icing roses to make it a winner. The third TT: Arena game recently came out and fixed a few of my gripes, but as best said by the Acro-Brats,

Day Late, Dollar Short.

Total Grade: B

Nice review. I can understand the lack of images here (it's a flash game, after all) but if you can find a picture or two to stick in here or there that's always a nice addition. Other than that, all that's needed is a few spelling/grammer tweaks to perfect it. I still think that flash game reviews should be done in compilations though.
