Everything past gold and silver...

I am a big fan of the first series, and even the second one where more pokemon started emerging, but when a game cuts out all the old ones, the devs have alot to answer for. Catching the 150 in s1 made me feel awesome, but with the later series, i feel no need to do it. i mean look at them! They have no identifying features to their type. Earlier series you can tell the type that they are because they are blue, yellow, or have fire coming out of them. with the later ones, i found a camel thing that looked like i should leaf the crap out of it. but alas, it was a brown fire pokemon... damn designers.

Spa baths, beauty contests, personalities, underwater seas... the list is endless.

What gets me the most about all of the pokemon games is that you can fly hundreds of kilometers to cities, but cant fly over a meter or two of rubble... or up ledges, for that matter.

that, and not being able to walk between trees that are a meter apart.

The fact that Alakazam, a pokemon with a mind more powerful then a super computer, is perfectly fine serving humans. This fucker can shoot lasers WITH HIS GOD DAMNED MIND. Alakazam should be ruling the world and using humans as his *****.
Thats actually a good point. And isn't Dragonite supposed to be at human intelligence????

They should join Mewtwo....good bye world

Well, with Heart Gold/Soul Silver coming out in a few days, I felt it was time to get all nostalgic about the freaky weird things in the Pokemon games of old. (Or Pokemon episodes of old, whatever works)

I for one always had issues with Nurse Joy, someone you only went to see when your Pokemon were hurt/unconscious, saying "We hope to see you again!"

Sadistic pink-haired witch.
...COUPLE OF DAYS! I gotta wait till the end of the fucking month!

the fact that since the pokemon are intelligent, they most likely have families and a social life. and since they are always shown smiling and never seem to complain about being enslaved to do the bidding of the "master", there is probably a drug in the pokeball devised to remove the memories and accept their new fate as weapons of destruction.

oh and though it has been asked before, where do they get the meat that they eat?

Everyone, stands still and never moves and always have the same thing to say when you talk to them yet your character never gets creeped out there are only a few sprites so everyone looks the same as well. Also "towns" are usually just like four buildings. This was at least in Sapphire I haven't played any of the others but those were my minor nitpicks.

The two types of trainers.

Trainer type a) 5 weak pokemon that you can one-shot, one slightly stronger pokemon that you can one shot.

Trainer type b) 2-3 stronger pokemon that take a couple of hits to defeat.

Really, the game was damned easy.

Oh! And the fact that all the other trainers themed their pokemon around an arbitrary theme, rather than a balanced team that wouldn't die from the same attack every time.

Finally, the fact the Ash's Pikachu killed a Pinsir, a Venomoth, and a god damn Golem with a single thunderbolt.
(Yes I just loaded up the first Pokemon movie to check that and yes I am watching it right now)

Holy crap I never realised how irritating Ash's voice is.

The storyline is always kinda stupid.
"We're going to set off a volcano so we have more land to live on!"
"That's retarded; You'll kill everyone"
"Maybe, but at least I'm helping mankind"

what happened to all the normal animals on that planet?
WHY do they allow, ney, encourage 10-year-olds to go out into the dangerous woods to capture wild animals?

and wouldn't that actually lead to a horrible decrease in animal population,w hat with every child capturing as many as they can?

what, they have festivals for the creatures but not a law to protect them from overhunting?

soooooo many questions..

That, and pokemon themselves.
I mean, wtf is with those things?
They look ridiculous sometimes, for example, Bidoof.

The fact that all Pokemon will accept slavery once they've been caught in a ball.
If I were a captured Pokemon, I'd just be waiting for the first time I was sent out to do battle to turn around and tear the little fucker who caught me a new one!
Especially Alakazam. Isn't his IQ supposed to be like 5000?
They should be the fucking master race. Humans should be their slaves, building pyramids in their honour.
I believe i have the answer for Alakazam. There are no wild Alakazams because it needs to be traded. Most people would catch a wild abra. Being blind, the abra must either teleport all the time, or give a little bit of trustto the trainer. As you TM it the elemental punches the trainer and abra must be perfectly synchronized in battle to do anything of value. Once it's a kadabra it grows even more attaced to its trainer. By the time you trade it and acquire it you also should have badges that work on up to level 70 traded pokemon, giving the alakazam that you get back a reason to respect its trainer in both the, "I trust you" and "I respect you" way.

Yeah, I have a problem...[HEADING=2]Why does paralyzing the CPU never work for me but works great for them?![/HEADING]And why can't I use an interrobang on these forums?

8 - What if someone from a city such as Saffron city or Cinnebar Island wanted to start their Pokemon journey. The map is laid out for people from Pallet town. Maybe that is why there are no super-good trainers from other towns. The first couple of gyms they came to at the start of their pokemon career destroyed them and therefore their confidence and ability [s/]leading to deep seated psychological problems later in life like being obsessed with on cute pokemon, or needing, quite obviously, to be sectioned[/s]
Yeah, that always bugged me too. No wonder for such a tiny town Pallet has a disproportionate number of professional trainers.

But read through <url=http://www.vgcats.com/super/?strip_id=0>these things and you could bassically see what the problems are with the game.
Hehe, I've been following this since it started. I wish that Scott would update more often. It seems like he makes only 1 comic per month now.

Weird question... The Pokemon get progressively and uniformly stronger as you walk across the map in a certain path starting from the weak ones right outside your hometown. What if you were born in a town towards the end? You have to try and go out and catch a level 30+ with nothing but a prayer and a pokeball. Or they start out with a level 40. Someone's like here you go kiddo here's an Arcanine for your starter go fuck some people shit up.

Ooooohh boy, here are my buttons;

- Grind-based gameplay
- unbalanced abilities
- we can catch legendaries, relatively easily. (i would expect them to pulp anyone stupid enough to even try on the spot.. they are LEGENDARIES for a reason!)
- Cute, pink-flavored tone in all games, too much "kid friendly"
- Bad guys ar--EVERYONE are hopeless idiots, but bad guys take the cake with thier suicidal, world-shattering goals
- pokemons individually have to power to level cities.. but nobody dies.. EVER
- the setting doesnt make much sense and isnt taken seriously by the devs, if it could take on a smarter, more mature tone it would be funnier imho.
- turn-based combat system is slow, boring and STUPID
- pokemons are all sentient, sensible creatures (in the anime anyway) but in the game they are only usefull as "bags of numbers". Only their attacks and stat matters.
- the governement not having a problem with 11-years old using massively powerfull beasts on a daily basis
- incompetent authorities
- not even the illusion of a working economy going on, where do people work and get money? How does the logistics work? DO they teleport everything or not? where do they grow their food? They should at least give us the illusion that there is an economy and people do something other than standing around.
- and so much more!!

edit-
- bloodthirsty trainers that attack us, and only US on the spot. We cant refuse combat.

The thing that annoyed me most about the original games was the fact that if you box was full you couldn't catch pokemon anymore until you switched to a new one, and then if you wanted a pokemon out of that box you would have to go through the rigerous process of changing it back. Also, in the show did anyone else notice that if Team Rocket had decided to follow a different group of children around they would actually be pretty successful? All of their attemps of stealing pokemon were going fine until Ash and friends showed up. Oh, and zubat.

This has probably already been mentioned, but "Hey, we're Team Rocket and we couldn't be stopped by the police force, but if this 10-year-old kid beats us in a pokémon battle we'll just give up and go home!"

The fact they continued to make new ones after the first 151/251. They spoiled the excitement and fun. I'm looking forward to Gold/Silver re-release, they were the all time most amazing of the series :D
