Hello dear Escapists!

As the title says. What are the things that instantly brighten your mood the moment you see them?
It can be anything: A video, a picture, a book or even just a thought.

I'll start with a little video that always gives me the warm n' fuzzies.

Blowing up a helicopter on battlefield with a rocket propelled grenade always brighten my day, especially if it's one of those smug pilots who fly way to close to the ground and get a lot of kills.

Playing with small children, they're always up for a laugh, hard not to leave with a brightened mood :)

This, in fact listening to little kids giggle is probably one of the best things in the world, and if you can't get a real kid to laugh then videos on Youtube are the next best thing. Seriously if I ever have a bad day I just watch this and crack a grin.

The theme tune to The Great Escape is pretty upbeat. I found a version somebody made in Mario Paint that brought an unexpected grin to my face:

The variation they did for Chicken Run was a grand piece of work:

Apart from that, animals make me laugh fairly often with their innocent little antics.

Instant upbeat moment... I like getting letters, pen pal mail, get-together texts, LAN co-op, baking brownies with my girlfriend...

As for internet stuff I guess I like this or that stupid video.

EDIT: Seinfeld re-runs, tracks "Sora" fom Kingdom Hearts 2, "Royal Baths" from Prince of Persia Sands of Time, the intros from Tales of the Abyss & Borderlands and the whole soundtrack from Donkey Kong Country trilogy - this gem in particular.

Probably my cat. Even after 21 years of seeing him every day, he still brings a smile to my face.

The simplicity and silliness of this has had me in tears on more than one occasion:

...And then there's the top comment on the page: "That roll ain't the only thing that's baked."

Random people telling me I look handsome. Not in a creepy way, though. It's nice to get compliments like "You should try looking into modelling" or "I'm sorry but I just have to tell you that you look surprisingly handsome today"

Watching a relaxing Ghibli film, like Totoro.

Or any song by Pavement, especially Gold Soundz. I strongly recommend you look that up on youtube, their videos make about as much sense as their lyrics.

Hanging out with my brother.
He's a pretty reserved and straight laced person in front of most and a fun guy in front of friends but when it's only us we just spit crap the entire time without a filter. Nether of us have to hold back or wear any kind of facade, it's nice.

Other than that, music!

I'll be that guy; my girlfriend. Whatever be happening (and recently, lots be happening), she's always there and she always cheers me up.

Failing that, Big Bang Theory, Archer or playing Final Fantasy (but not FFXIII-3: LR) or MGS.

EDIT: Or sweet and sour chicken.

Big Bang Theory tests my faith in my humanity :(

I'll agree with the girlfriend and Archer though, never fails!

An apple pie, a bright blue sky, a breezy meadow in july.
A ice cream bar, a shooting star, the sound of a steel guitar
I like the sound of rain, wearing a hat and cane, Tiffany window panes lovely to seeeeeeee.
Frost on a window sill, the feel of a dollar bill, vacations in brazil fill me with glee.

These are all the little things that make me smile, this is all the stuff that makes life worth while.
Everybody knows the holocaust was a lie so let's sing about the things we like and don't be shy.

A strip of lace, a pretty face, eugenics really makes the case.
Counting sheeps, and froggy leaps, touching Jim Sterling inappropriately while he sleeps.

I love the feel of grain, the screams of a man in pain, blood coming down like rain showering me.
That everlasting thrill during the final kill, body dumped in a landfill got off scot free.

These are all the little things that make me smile, this is all the stuff that makes life worth while.
One day I will eat your brain and it'll be great so let's sing about the things we like and meet your fate.

Failing that, cake.

Lots of cake.

And, on that note, Hyperbole and a Half will do the trick.

My cat's pretty good at it. Even when she's being incredibly obnoxious (and with the frankly outrageous volume she can emit for her size, this is saying something), she's still adorable and makes me feel better just by being around.

There's also Iroh's voice from Avatar. Doesn't even matter what he's saying, his tone is almost always pleasantly soothing.
