I had this crazy dream, man. It was, like, about the future... and we were all old people, looking at, like, the kids you know? They were walking around with, like, virtual reality glasses and shit. And they communicated to each other with it, nobody talked, everyone was just thinking to each other. They would only talk out loud in formal events like a dinner or celebration.

There was no written word, everything was typed or thought up, pencils and pens didn't exist. Us old folk, we were the only ones writing and shit. And the kids, were all "whoa what are you doing?" and we had to tell them that back in our day people talked out loud all the time. And wrote things with pencils, the kids were amazing ad how such a strange past could exist.

So escapists what do you think will be gone in the future? Will kids only hear about exotic animals in books? Will they only know food as grey sludge fed directly to their mouth? Will video game controllers be an ancient tool?

I have a feeling things will be surprisingly similar to how things are now, just maybe a little smaller or intuitive. I mean hey, they thought we'd have jet packs and hover cars by now.

Physical keyboards okay that was stupid, stupid idea. I don't think that handwriting in all forms can completely disappear, though. It will at least remain in digital form (stylus+touchscreen).

DVDs, eventually Blurays, both probably replaced by holovids.
Probably language barriers would also disappear, eventually everyone would be a mix of everything.

CD'S DVD's well the disc format in general.

And toilets in the future youll probably have some pills or something that eat away at all that waste so you dont have to get rid of it yourself. Repulsive? Indeed but you never know

pc's

they're already too broad in scope, purpose built electronics are smaller, cooler, more effective at their tasks and most importantly cheaper. assuming your talking about being an octogenerian , 50 years ago computers were the size of a room and the personal computer was ludicrous.

for me 50 years from now, pc's will be ludicrous again. it'll get all hitchhikers guide five. why make millions of pc's to sell to individual people when you can make ONE computer and sell it millions of times to millions of people.

don't believe me look at what apple's doing. selling purpose built computing devices. the touch focus's on media, the pad on websurfing, the phone on communicating. eventually they'll sell the interface and the computing will be done somewhere they have total control of it's coming and goings. non-conformance simply means you get the pleasure of living as a ludite.

This.

Also VCR's, which are all but obsolete now anyways. Movie Theaters and Rental Places I can see eventually going the way of the dinosaur too at some point.

Everything's eventually going to become obsolete, it's just a matter of time.

In my lifetime though? Yeah, I reckon DVD's are gonna die out as well.

DRM, hopefully. Probably motion control once the wii fad wears off.
I was going to say that, until I realised that it's obsolete now, but publishers insist on crowbarring it in.

And everyone keeps praising steam, forced digital distribution needs to die.

Actually, people like DELL generally do the same thing as Apple (just only with PCs, no phones and such).

The point of a PC, if we're talking about gaming mostly, is that they're entirely customisable. You can't do the same with an Apple MAC - and you pay A LOT as well. My Dad got his recently and I think it would of cost around another £700 for 4GB RAM to be pre-installed.

PCs should be viewed as separate components, not singular-products.

You're making the mistake of assuming that one company owns the PC market, in the same way that Apple owns the MAC one.
