Did you ever convince yourself of something when you were young? Did your parents ever tell you something to avoid answering the truth or to stop you doing something? Ever had a friend on the playground who lied to impress and you carried on believing it? ect ect...
Relive your childhood here Escapists..

I managed to convince myself that;
Cartoons were drawn in pen and films were drawn in pencil.
Medusa lived in my Grandparent's room.
Turkey stuffing was made from floor carpet.
And my grandad made me believe that he fought with Pirates.

I'm sure there's more but thats my lot to start.

Haven't really got any of my own, but you might be interested in this site:

I find it a bit annoying to browse, but there's some good stuff on there.

It took me forever to figure out how the lights in refrigerators work. Then one day I was like, "hey look, there's a pushy button, and when you push it, the light turns off".

I used to believe that teachers had eyes in the back of their head.

When I was really young, I thought babies were made when a couple made out... don't ask me how that work or how they come out...

I used to look out the rear window of our car when riding in the backseat and see the blinker lights flashing, and think they were mouse cops trying to pull us over.

EDIT: I even changed the COPS theme song for it!
Mouse cops, mouse cops, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they comin' for you? xD

I used to think black people were sick (Which made them black).

I was very, very young, and my mother could not for the life of her teach me otherwise until I was 6. She did say, however, that every black person who heard me say this laughed hysterically about it.

I thought that all movies had real actors, even if it was animated. And sometimes I imagined a short "behind the scenes" clip. Oh, and I also thought that when we played a VCR, all the actors played live in the TV. I could see them in front of me getting prepared to meet the audience before we pressed the play button. I especially got these mental images if it was someone who died in it, probably to avoid thinking that he/she was really dead in the movie.
One of these moments that I remember the most is in "The Land Before Time" where Littlefoot's mother dies tragically in the beginning.
I always cried when I saw that...
Those are the only ones that I remember, I'm pretty sure I had a lot of vague theories of how stuff worked. :D

I used to believe that Ants controlled traffic lights. And, being a pedestrian, used to blame them when they didn't change for ages lol.

I thought that all my toys were alive in some way (I didn't want to throw them away). I didn't want to grow up because I mixed up the definition of the Dutch word for it and got afraid of it (still am :p):S. I thought fireman came to catch you and put you in jail if you started a fire...

My best friend used to be a dick. He told me he lived inside the sun.

... It was kinda plausible.

I had a mexican babysitter when I was young. When I asked my mother where Mexico was she said something along the lines of "It's down south". This lead me to believe that Mexico was down the street (I live in Canada by the way).

There is a Swedish fictional character called "Karlsson på taket" translated "Karlsson on the roof".

His thing is that he has a propeller on his back that can spin anytime he wants, and make him fly. For about 1-2 years, I was convinced that it was possible to do what he did.

I also thought that the during the 1800s, everything was in black and white.

...I...saw this thread a few weeks ago...
hmm.

Well, I used to think that when you swallowed chewing gum, it had to be removed via a lobster gnashing at your stomach.
And there was a bedcrab in every bed that would snatch at your feet.

...yeah. Crustacean theme going on here.

I used to think that the actors could see me when I watched them on TV.

Also I though for the longest time I was not allowed to know any of my teachers' first name and freaked out when I finally learned one of them.

I thought Pro Wrestling was real until I was 16. When I was much younger i'd cry whenever Goldberg lost a match.
