...but will this actually run since it's become free to play. There's plenty of sources online saying that it can't be played preowned as you need the code it comes with but very little advice on this since it's F2P

Also will it still need the 20 hour install time it did the last time I tried to download it, or will it just run off the disc?

... What would be the point of buying a used copy of DCUO?
Do you purchase used copies of other mmo's as well?

You might save some time off the installation process, but you'll probably need to download the patches anyway.

No it won't run off the disc, no PC game does (except Halo 2's letting you play while it installs feature I guess). At most the only reason you needed the disc was as an old form of DRM.

I would recommend against buying it. You'll still need to patch it, which would take just as long, if not longer than the installation, and you wouldn't have the free 30 days of premium service that you get when buying a box copy of an MMO because it's used. If I were you I'd rather put that money towards one of the DLC packs instead.
