let's say i am a college student wishing to do a small tad of private research on these forums.

I'd even be kind enough to post my results after a month or so (AKA, it's all finished)

do i violate any rules?



...though i have no problem crashing buses full of nitroglycerin into banks with glass entrances, when it comes to forums, i'd like to do a bit more than just acquire some lab rats. being cool with the rules helps with that...

it's gonna be a bit...but i'm not doing it for money, as i'm a STUDENT, and we students do far more shameful things for money, like donate plasma twice a week with dirty needles and sell our bodies...

As for research I'm pretty sure it's fine, I've run into quite a few 'do this survey for my education' threads since I started here.

As long as you aren't posting a youtube channel or advertising your website I'm sure you'll be ok.

out of curiosity what kind of research are you looking for? or would that screw up the research?

Depends really. If you don't spam it into every forum on the site, its okay. We have had people who do that kinda stuff and they can get reaaalllly rude.

Yeah, you should be fine, people do it all the time. Just don't advertise any products, link to personal blogs, bump your threads, or spam several threads at once.

Even though you're a lurker and probably well used to the site I will say welcome to the Escapist!

Yep, should be ok. So long as you aren't posting links to shady sites or doing the self-promotion advertising thing then you'll be fine.
