This 'Scrolls' thing is a publicity stunt

Can I ask, did you know Scrolls before this, or would that of sounded like a spinoff from Elder Scrolls?

Scrolls itself is real, but the whole fiasco surrounding it is just fake, completely fake. Bethesda are not the EA style business that everyone is acting like they are, and Notch is not an underdog anymore.

I mean, c'mon, if it's gone this far it's gotta be faked.

EDIT: and Bethesda do have a stake in this, it makes sure everyone knows there's a difference between Scrolls and Elder Scrolls

I sincerely doubt that Bethesda would risk such a negative hit to their PR just to bring an indie developer who can no longer exactly be called obscure out of obscurity.

I'm pretty sure Bethesda would have said something along the lines of, "Hey, yeah we aren't suing them," by now. This has been terrible for their image.

Um, it's very real. Notch has posted the court documents. How could you even THINK this was fake? Besides, assuming this WAS fake, then you would have heard about a very real libel lawsuit coming Notch's way from Bethesda.

And I hate to break your heart, but Bethesda ISN'T above that "EA" style business. They are more than willing to be litigious as fuck.

Bethesda is a bunch of jerks. They've used the courst before to get their way and bully other companies. They couldn't care less about the "PR hit".

Exactly Not only would they say "We aren't suing Notch" but they also would have said "This Notch guy defamed us by saying we were suing him! So we are actually going to sue him for reals this time! LIBEL LAWSUIT KTHNXBYE" if this whole thing was fake.

I highly doubt this whole thing is faked, you can't just publicly claim a company is suing you when they aren't with no serious repercussions. If it was faked, Bethesda would have immediately announced a public response declaring it, they wouldn't sit back and take a serious PR hit.

And to answer your first question, I have been well aware of the development of Scrolls for some time.

They could have just written "look out for our new game Scrolls", in the Minecraft launcher that's currently sitting on 3 billion computers.

And yeah, known about it for a few months at least.
