I loved the first Alan Wake and was excited about this. It wasn't an official sequel but a spin off but I was excited to play this.

Now first off the story is a mixed bag. None of the characters (Other than Mr Scratch who'll I get to) are memorable. The added dialogue between Alan and these characters felt more like mediocre exposition than character building. It was great to hear the original characters on the radios again making me wish they had bigger roles in this game. Now Mr Scratch is arguably the best part of the story. Everytime he came on the TV's I always got excited to see this supernatural serial killer at work. He was always entertaining but we also got a look into his psyche. I wish the game had more of these sequences because Mr Scratch is such an awesome character. Sadly we probably wont see any more of him. Also I really didn't feel the Quentin Tarentino/ From Dusk Till Dawn atmosphere that Remedy said that they were going for.

The gameplay is actually an improvement from Alan Wake. There's more variety to the enemies this time around, there's more weapons to use and some interesting set pieces to go along with it. Repeating the same levels again wasn't that much a big of deal as there were some interesting bits. Rewriting reality is something I enjoyed, making sure to make all the pieces fit together was satisfying. I wish there was more variety but eh it's a short game. Also there's a lack of challenge at some moments.

I recently started playing the Horde mode and I'm really enjoying it, it starts off easy but then gradually gets intense.

So overall I enjoyed Alan Wake American Nightmare, it was disappointing but it was worth the 1200 points. Now Remedy really outta start working on that sequel of there's.
