Time to upgrade?

Well I bought a PSP-1000 in December 2005, and am now thinking about upgrading. I do play it quite often, and am now having a bit of trouble with it. The battery only lasts for 2 1/2 to three hours on the lowest settings, the disk tray won't stay shut and will fling out my UMD's when in play (I use tape) but the screen and buttons are fine.

So Escapists what do you think? Should I Stop being cheap and buy a new one or stick with this one for a few more years?

I personally don't see much reason besides patapon and power stone to have a PSP so I don't think I am the best person to advise you on this matter. However; if you do want my opinion I feel you should upgrade to a DS and enjoy some silly fun games.

there are more enjoyable games on psp, than on ds.
After a while, the stlyus just feels like a gimmick. I hated Phantom hourglass, purely for the stylus.
But yeah, if you can, buy a cheap 2000, or 3000 (if you have the cash)
