I wanted to test that theory that tipping increased the shiny rate, but now that I'm looking for people to tip, I can't find any. Googling just gave me a million 'Trainer Tips', so I figured I'd ask the community.

Where are some NPCs waiting to be tipped?

EDIT:

Phil the Photo Guy locations.

You can tip Phil the Photo Guy and the Resturant after you dine there. If you ask the Lady Servant in the Battle Chateau a question then back out you can tip her

I thought Tipping just added to your 'clout'. Or rather, just spending money on luxuries in general does it. Such as sleeping in that hotel for 100,000. Is this true?

The fastest and largest tips you can give is from Fine Dining. Perfecting all the course gives you an option of 10000P$ for tipping.

Just prepare to face many pokemon with Protect.

At this point there no real way to confirm this information. I would take as a possibility/rumor than fact. Unless someone did the math, hacked the code, or Game Freak spills the beans, we are not going find out for a while.

There's a rating which dictates weather you can enter the clothes shop in Lumiose as well as the price of things in the city, it seems to be based on the amount of money you spend around Lumiose and some have said that this includes tipping. There is no reason to believe it increases shiny rate at this time, we simply don't have access to the numbers to test it.

I did a couple of photospots, went shiny hunting, found nothing again. Once I gave up to evolve my Tyrogue and Masuda the parent, I ran into a shiny Ducklett. It was the second encounter outside the Friend Safari.

Coincidence? Probably. There've been a lot of coincidences, though.
