Tired of Playing Humans

Yes, I am tired of playing humans or elves or vampires. Simply put, I like playing monsters. I like having interesting monsters in my RPG parties, I like playing them.

There is a reason I like Disgaea and Disgaea 2. I can complete the game with a motley crew of interesting monsters. Unfortunately I still have to deal with humanoid classes to get spells, etc. It was the reason I liked Final Fantasy Tactics, I could have critters and interesting dragons. War of the Monsters was awesome but felt short.

What I found annoying about Oblivion is that the lizardman option looked like he was going to sell me insurance. The cat looked like he was abused in the shelter.

I suppose the point I am getting at is that I see a human in the mirror all the time. I see humans on the street all the time. Perhaps, I want an inhuman viewpoint in a game sometime without it being done poorly.

So what I am asking of you gentle readers is what kind of monster games would you like to see? What kind of inhuman action would you like?

Personally, I want a monstrous form of the Spiderman games. Stalking and doing inhuman things to victims. Be on the otherside of a monster movie. Be the monster. :D

Like perhaps, create your own monster from a wad of monster parts and powers and have fun sprawling throughout a city, killing and maiming.

How about you? Any of you tired of the same humans, over and over again? Again I ask, what kind of monster game would you like to play?

Just killing humans would be fun. Be a golem, and tear sh*t up.
Words of Bender, "Kill all humans."
"Hey sexy mama, wanna kill all humans?"

Something like that, yes. Hell, I might make a thread about my game idea. It is starting to flesh out rather nicely in my head.

And yes, a robot would be awesome.

I would like to be in an RPG with some sort of creatures that resemble the Zerg. Maybe start as a small creature and as you level you evolve into a larger creature.

Preferably something slithery, and stealthy.

Ya, I am definitely going to post that game idea now. And yes, it would be awesome to be a stealth monster as a focus of a game.

I'd like to see a free roaming game that lets you play as a dragon. Flying around, smashing things, breathing fire, these all sound like good fun to me. Why is it games with dragons always make you play as the human riding the dragon? Is it the same reason Hollywood will stick an American actor in a British film to sell it to American audiences? Do the developers think without a human point of contact nobody will be interested?

Of course making up a compelling creature as the main character of a game is probably a lot harder than just sticking with a human. Just think of all the MMOs with forgettable races that are basically weird looking humans with a couple of special abilities. I say a clean break from bipedal creatures is needed. It worked for Okami.

Just think how much gameplay could be altered in a God of War type title if instead of a human you played a naga. Having the body of a snake instead of legs would open up all kinds of interesting opportunities.

I think looking somewhere besides humans for game protagonists is a top idea.

You just made me happy. Yes yes yes... I would love to play a dragon without the arbitrary human component.

As for the snake, hot damn, sign me up. In D&D the Yuan-ti Abominations always intriqued me. Snakes with arms being bastards. MMmmm, good times.

Personally, I'd think a shapeshifter, with the ability to choose what you morph into (customizable and crap) would be neat-o.

You know what about hunting in the savanah as a lion or a tiger I think a game like that would own so hard.

I quite like the Destroy All Humans series. Most shooters have you fighting the alien invasion, but in DAH, you ARE the alien invasion. Anal probe and all.

Back to the topic at hand. I too like the idea of a dragon simulator, ravaging the country side and terrorising the humans.

That's another interesting idea. I think there is a online freeware game that does this with wolves, but it is meant for kids.

I just wan't Dungeon Keeper 3 to be picked up again, and be released.

Oh, the joy of slaughtering valiant heroes, and proud elves, putting them in the electric chair, or letting them rot in a dungeon, creating you a army of undead skeletons.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*sniff, oh those were good days.
