Hello guys :) You see, recently, I had to give back my sister's DS, as she no longer is too strapped for time with her newborn baby, and I find myself getting very bored at certain points in life (Bus stops, dentist, hospital, taking care of my nan, etc...). That's why, I've been pondering whether, now that a fair bit of money is going to come my way, I should buy a 3DS. I pretty much have my mind made up, but I'd like to hear your opinions on things like are the already available games any good, is there any interesting releases in the horizon, do the other functions of the console make the price reasonable, that sort of stuff. Any feedback is welcome :)

Edit: Also, I should add that, right now, I need both a picture camera and something that works as an MP3 player, since mine have broken down, and apparently, the 3DS does that too. On that note, do you guys think that the battery use will be excessive? And I know this is unlikely, but can you play your music while you play games?

I say go for it. I had an old 'phat' DS and decided to get a 3DS when it went on sale and picked up Zelda OoT, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land and I've been having a blast with those. Also bought Star Fox 3D and Super Street Fighter IV 3D and those are just as fun for me.

You can get some nifty things going with it too, a 3D Pokedex, Netflix, the 3D camera is fun, the AR cards are neat to mess with. Although you can only go as far back as regular DS titles and not way back to GBA / GB but that's not too big a deal.

Plus demos from the E-Shop and, hopefully at some point, Monster Hunter 3G.

So yeah, I say go for it.

I'd say do it. The 3DS doesn't have a great many titles out that interest me, but there are quite a few I'm still looking to get. I've got:

Tales of the Abyss(I had it on PS2, but I don't have a PS2 anymore so this was the perfect chance to play it again)

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D(came with it because I have the special edition Zelda 3DS)

Resident Evil: Revelations

I've also got Chrono Trigger DS, Sonic Classic Collection, Okami Den, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Megaman Zero Collection and My Japanese Coach as far as old DS games go.

There are also several other DS games I would like to have, and there are other 3DS titles I'd like to get ahold of, such as Sar Fox 64 3D and Mario Kart 7.

My only gripe is the way Nintendo seems to refuse putting older games(GBA/GBC/GB) onto the eShop. I would easily pay for the Megaman Battle Network series, Golden Sun, the other handheld Zelda games, along with the older ones like Link to the Past. What I'd love to see on the eShop most is the Oracle of Ages/Seasons games, even though it probably won't ever happen because Capcom published those.

All in all: Dooooo eeeeeeeeet!

I might get one when Virtue's last reward (9 hours 9 persons 9 doors sequel) comes out or if Fire Emblem Awakening is planned for a NA release.

Maybe ive out grown them, but hand held games just dont have the appeal they used to.

When im up and about, im usually listening to music or reading the internet on my cell phone. Back in the day we needed handhelds to keep us entertained, but nowadays I can just browse websites and save my money for the real AAA stuff on my gaming laptop

If you like Mario, Zelda, and remakes and it's a great buy.
Otherwise, I find the selection to be terribly lacking for the price outside of the Vintage Gaming appeal.

To date, the only original game I've considered that begins to justify its price is Kid Icarus Uprising. (The multiplayer is actually quite good once you figure out the controls)

I think you already know if its worth it or not to you as im sure you would have done youre research on it, if it was me I would just buy an old DS or PSP cheap and use those. Plenty of great games for both systems to keep you busy for quite a while and it saves you cash.

I own one and would suggest you get one too. The 3D aspects of the console are largely a gimmick at this point but they make cinematic sequences look pretty good. The graphics with the 3D off are phenomenal though (personal opinion). The games that you can buy now are more varied than when I got mine and the e-shop/virtual console has a ton of great classic games if you missed them first time round. I haven't had any issue with the battery life personally but that's because I hardly use the 3D, I keep the back-light at 2/5 and, I seldom use the camera/recorder/AR features.

Depending on how much you have to spend, I'd recommend getting a couple of the points/money cards. Kid Icarus: Uprising is a game I wanted to like but haven't got into because of the controls (you can change them up but they're still bad). The best games on the systems are great now because they were great on the N64. Mario Kart is great but short and I haven't played Mario Land 3D yet. If you're into survival horror the Resident Evil game plays like a one of the PSX ones but look like 5. Spirit Camera looks awesome but I haven't played with it at all and it likely drains your batteries. If there is nothing out now that you want than wait until late July/ early August when Kingdom Hearts, Theatrythem and, Epic Mickey are out.
