I've heard people get all upset here (Canada), whenever somebody mentions eating horses. Frankly I dont see wha the big deal is, meat is meat. Yes some is better than others, but thats neither here nor there.

So I ask, what are you thoughts on eating horse, and other non-predominant meats (ie not chicken, pork or beef)

Go for it I guess? I mean how is it different from eating a pig? I bet the pig is more fun to ride as well.

Do you mean animal X over animal Y or the ethics of meat-eating as a whole (Please be the former, the latter is tired and overdone(pun intended))

Horse is traditionally a famine food in Western society. It's a natural social inclination to look down on it, many cultures have taboos on eating beasts of burden.

I wouldn't do it.

It all depends on how the meat is cooked and prepared. Because i have eaten deer, duck, lamb, frog legs and even rabbit. If it's cooked right i'll eat just about anything.

Horses are probably about as smart as pigs. So it's ethically more or less the same as eating a pig, though I would personally not eat a horse because society has instilled a revulsion for horse meat in me.

Nope, I think anyone who would eat a horse has never loved one as a pet. Also, depends on the meat. But for the most part, yes, id eat just about anything.
I'd probably eat dog, and I love my dog!

Trying new things is fun, and I'm curious as to how much of the animal kingdom one can eat one's way through in a lifetime.
So I'd try horse, happily!

This sort of thing happens whenever people feel a kinship or attachment to particular animals. Many folks will vehemently espouse support for eating agricultural meat, but will react violently to eating pets. I mean, people LOVE horses. Its eaten in a few, small communities, generally, and is supposedly a component of dog foods.

I would support any of the following statements, for example: Cat eaters should be crucified along the highway. Dogs are ok to eat in asia. Someone who eats a sea otter should be drowned in agricultural runoff. Guinea pig is actually delicious.

See?

Kind of the same as saying its wrong to eat dog or cat. Meat is Meat. We just have an emotional attachment to such animals.

I've tasted horse, wasn't horrible, I did have a bit of a mental block with what I was eating, like the first time I ate haggis.

"Silly Nick, horses aint for eatin'"
I love aligator meat, but that is the only one my mentality can stomach...

I wouldn't be mad at someone if they tried horse meat, but I would be a little wierded out if it were a major part of there diet...

pig =/= hog. Pork is hog.
??

What?

Code:
The domestic pig (also swine, in some areas hog) is a domesticated livestock animal, farmed for its meat, known as pork (bacon, ham, sausages, etc.).

I don't particularly approve of eating horse, though mostly because I didn't like the taste. Same thing with bear and elk, these meats aren't anything in comparison to Venison or Beef.
<------ Also this, I don't approve because of this.
