My friend (big WoW player) and I (big Warcraft fan) shortly after he defeated the lich king, conversation pretty much went like this:
Me: "..you killed the lich king!? man arthas was badass"
friend: "who's Arthas?"
Me: :|...."next thing you'll tell me you dont know how illidan is"
friend: "Illidan?...oh the dude with the wings"
Me: :|

Admittedly on WoW I don?t really read quests, unless I know it?s rather important. But how could you play WoW for 4 years and not know who the key characters of the expansions are built around especially after killing the poor guys?

I know it?s probably been talked about again and again but that is one major fault with WoW. I feel like blizzard are telling these awesome stories but no one is listening, they're all too busy trying to get the best stats. If that?s how they play the game then that?s cool, that?s their choice. But Warcraft 3 was so amazing for its story telling!

Now I have a dream...that Warcraft 4 would someday come and be a totally awesome RTS (I know it?s not a very big dream). I know Blizzard are making stupid amounts from WoW but all the WoW players would buy it and of course WoW could continue.

Anyway questions are guys, do you follow what?s going on in WoW? Would you want a warcraft 4 to be released?

I wouldn't mind Warcraft 4. It could be cool. I wasn't a huge fan of Warcraft 3 but I played it and enjoyed the story.

The one major fault of WoW is that it completely dropped the ball when it comes to story-telling. Especially when compared to Warcraft 3.

I'd love another proper Warcraft RTS myself, but I doubt it'll happen. Especially considering how WoW fudged the lore...

I never wanted WoW. I always wanted Warcraft 4, alas I don't think my dream will come true. WoW just makes too much money.

I kind of felt dissapointed when I saw that you could kill Arthas in WoW, I wanted to do that in a Warcraft 4 (no, I don't play WoW).
And I totally agree when you say that Warcraft 3 had an awesome storytelling, I still play through the campaign mode sometimes, love that final scene when Arthas reaches the frozen throne, so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes.

I remember once reading a news that World of Warcraft was NOT Warcraft 4 and that Warcraft 4 may happen some day...

Well, they first made a sequel to Starcraft.

Then they made a sequel to Diablo.

Then they made an expansion for WoW.

Looks like it's Warcraft's turn on the Wheel of Development!

I gave up on Blizzard giving me what I want years ago. As much as I loved the campaign of WC3, I just never was able to love the game as much as I should have for a Blizzard game. Now that they have merged with Activision, and the going rate for their games is $60, I know there is no reason to pretend to myself that Blizzard will ever satisfy me again.

But yes, I'd love to see a WC4, just so I can gawk at it and actually consider buying it. WC2 still holds a place in my heart, even if I can't force myself to play it now.

Well the World of Warcraft check list goes like this kinda

-kill all old gods.
-kill all dragons.
-make tons of cash.
-everyone you know and love will die. By your hand or you'll be forced to watch.
-Make wacky cultural references.
-Release enough expansions to get to level 100. actually true.

....I can't wait.

Once they do that, then we might see Warcraft 4. ...I'm kinda scared about it's story. >.> but we may see it.

Ah, one can dream of a proper fantasy RTS, with good humour, excellent story, interesting characters, perfect gameplay, nice looking graphics, and mod support NAY a perfect editor for mods!
*sigh* a shame Arthas has been curbstomped by a trillion and one nameless pricks at this point...

The only problem is knowing major wow players and knowing much of the lore the world is WAY diffrent from Warcraft 3. Plus the kind of political stalemate between the two sides as their heroes go fight the undead/demons/dragons of doom kind of have killed any possibility for now of a huge horde vs alliance war. especially with the scourge mostly gone there are no major other contestors unless they throw in the burning legion... again.

God damnit. ><"" I accidentally reported without meaning to. There should be like.. an 'are you sure you want to do this, you dumbass?!' thing after you click it.

OT: It -would- have worked, but Blizz wants its money now, and, well, WoW is the best place to get it. I really enjoyed Warcraft 3, but... what can you do. :/

I would love to see another warcraft rts, but sense they finally released starcraft2, and still need to make 2 expansions for it, and WoW is still making enough money to buy small contries it just won't happen.

Yeah WoW made the Warcraft lore a big cluster fuck. Honestly, if nothing else, just give me a remake of WC3 with updated graphics :/ I need a new WC RTS. I'd buy it.

Gotta say, I couldn't agree with you more. The main reason I raid in WoW is for the storyline. I know everyone else wants epic l00tz, but I don't have much use for them outside raiding. The amount of people who don't even understand WHY Arthas is the Lich King, or the story behind it is worrying. I mean, that's almost as bad as not know WHY Illidan is "The betrayer"...Oh wait.
Now, I love WoW lore. I mean really love it. Insanely fanatical, yada yada yada, but like you said, Blizzard are telling one hell of a storyline that just isn't being listened to, and to be honest, can you blame anyone for not following? Even I don't want to sit reading blocks of texts (although I always do if I've never done the quest before. Cataclysm quests are a huge step up for questing in general, but they're still not cinematic enough to make someone want to read them all. Now, as much as I love your Warcraft 4 idea, this simply isn't something that can happen anymore. Despite WoW's poor storytelling, it DOES continue from the Warcraft series. The sad truth is, there isn't any need for them to release a Warcraft 4 until they're done with WoW (which isn't going to be for a very long time).

Tl:dr. I intensely follow WoW's story, yet it isn't quite good enough. I would like WC4 but I don't think there will ever be one. Here's hoping for a WC5 someday.

With SCII released not long ago, I doubt WC4 will come out anytime soon.

Did people actually own WC3 for WC3? I thought the only reason people bought it was for DoTA. (this is not meant to be taken entirely serious, please don't explode)

When a new Warcraft RTS comes around, they're going to call it Warcraft 4.
