So lately, I've hit a plateau in online gaming. League of Legends is starting to bore me, I'm still waiting on Mass Effect 3, and I'm also waiting on a friend to fix an issue that will allow me to play the DotA 2 Beta. Lately I've been looking at Star Wars: The Old Republic like that once girl in the bar. You're not that drunk, but she's a little husky, and I'm thinking I could maybe do her. Sorry for the crass description, terrible attempt at humor. I've seen lots of good reviews, but I need a personal opinion. Further note, I quit WoW back before Cataclysm.

I'm new to the mmo scene myself, but I'm rather enjoying myself with it. I've heard it suffers from a lack of end game content at the moment, and the pve is seemingly faring much better then the pvp atm, but due to how they integrate story elements throughout the game, it certainly makes leveling less of a chore. The combat mechanics seem to be a carbon clone of WoW from what I've heard, so that could be either a boon or a letdown to a previous player of it. So I suppose in conclusion, at this point in time you'll probably enjoy it the most if you treat it as a coop Kotor that plays much like WoW, yet retains the story elements common to current Bioware RPG's. I would suggest trying to find some gameplay on youtube, and just see if it takes your fancy :p
