Today At My School Someone Lit Themselves On Fire.

A friend of mine who saw the event said that her class was interrupted by screaming that wouldn't stop, and they looked out into the hall and saw a student on fire with black smoke going everywhere.
She said that she saw his bones and skin melting and dripping on the floor.
They said it was a chemical fire, and it would have been impossible for it to have occurred accidentally.
The kid was taken to a burn center, and I heard he lost his arm and they don't know if he will live.

While the school was on lockdown for 2 hours, the cops found a kid that had a GRENADE, who was completely unrelated to the kid on fire.

No one at this school ever smiled again.

But for discussion value, what is a crazy/dangerous event to happen at your school?
Has anyone ever brought a FIREARM1 to school?

Boy. American school systems nowadays, amirite?

The most that happened during my high school years was a lock down when a kid from a neighboring school starting attacking people with a machete.

I went to a rather ghetto high school for my freshman year. And there was a good deal of freaky shit there.
We had fights every day in the cafeteria, and I'm pretty sure half of the school was carrying a gun. Which, oddly enough, made me feel rather safe. Knowing that nobody would dare go on a rampage because of such a high probability of running into a firing squad is a strange safety net, but still.
I think the worst thing that happened while I went there was a shooting in the parking lot.
The most annoying thing was a fight that took up an entire damned hallway, and kept me from getting to my class for a good fifteen minutes while the thing got cleared up.

My school hasn't had anything happen in it but a student did commit suicide because of school

On a brighter note, we had a kid get suspended with threat of expulsion because he had a small gun with lights in it on his key chain because even though its a fake key chain gun w/ lights apparently its still a gun threat

EDIT: also, once in the boys locker room there was a horrible smell of semen and a rock hard sock in the corner...

Rather a lot of fistfights, but I'm in Canada. One person tried it with me in gym and I simply gave him a bear hug until I cracked some of his ribs, his face went purple, and he passed out. Then I had some tumors taken out of my right arm (not cancer, fibro... m something - mailgia, mitosis, miosis... so many fibro-m's). I went back to school while the staples were still in, the radiation burns still fresh, and the scar still crusty and told everyone I was mauled by a bear.

They weren't really surprised that I managed to kill it before it took my arm off.

I go to UT-Austin. A few months ago, some jackass sophomore blew his brains out with an AK-47 in the main library, that's about the most exciting thing that's happened here.
No, I've never brought a firearm to school. Why would I need one when I could kill somebody with chemicals much faster? >

Guns were brought into my school plenty of times, and once they thought a bank robber ran into our school and had to stay in school till like 3:30 that I was mad.

That's interesting, I wonder how that kid's arm got covered in flammable material like that. Sure, rumor might have it that it was a suicide attempt, but I wonder if it might have been an accident of some kind, like a lighter explosion.

Worse thing I ever had happen at my school was a bomb threat. Turned out to be somebody's idea of a joke, though, as no explosive device was found.

You're school is a terrible place. We had fights (I actually walked over one in my freshman year, two girls fighting on the floor, I didn't notice until I was already past 'em), but no shootings on campus, no burnings, or stabbings. LOTS of mercury spills though. Lots, and LOTS. Especially my senior year. Was kind of hilarious.

This wasn't school related, but it's still the craziest thing that's ever happened to me.

At my old job I had in highschool, there was a bomb-threat.
I worked at The Dollar Tree...
Some one wanted to blow up a Dollar Tree.
I'll give you a minute to let that sink in.

They think it was some lady who had just started working there as a manager. Under the store manager was the senior assistant manager, who happened to be African American. Apparantly, the crazy lady didn't like the idea that he had authority over her, because when they called her house after she didn't come back from lunch break, some one just screamed racial obsceneties over the phone. A few hours later: Bomb threat.

We all knew what was going on, but still had to evacuate the store. The best part was that there was a lady who had been in the middle of shopping and wanted me to go into the (possibly explosive) store and get her cart of stuff for her... That she hadn't even paid for yet. She just didn't want to have to go find it all again at another store if ours blew up.
