Hey! You got your Spider-Man in my Uncharted!

Hollywood is again overusing their resources so picks a guy with an already set schedule. How's this gonna work out for Uncharted? Will production be stretched out in between web swinging? I have no doubt that Holland can grow into the role. He'll of course be playing a teenager again, playing a young Drake against a middle-aged Sully teaching him the ropes. I would've liked to see these scenes as flashback, not so much as a full film but ya get what ya get.

Yay, an origin story. So trite and boring.

It's not like the concept of Uncharted is so alien that it really requires spending an entire movie setting it up.

Quippy adventurer travels the world in search for mystical relic, gets the girl and beats the evil guys. Done. Not that hard.

I mean, it's not like that is unprecedented. Indiana Jones didn't bother spending time on Indy's backstory until the 3rd movie. Worked out anyway.

Well, they probably want to make the Uncharted Cinematic Universe!, with tons of movies, TV shows and shit, so why not start with a origin story because that's always so interesting...

I love the Uncharted games. But why make a movie? I'd rather just play the games.

Sony - disappointing fans everywhere.
Chris Evans, Karl Urban, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pratt, there are a ton of people better for the role.
I swear, Sony needs to get rid of it's movie division and sell all of their IPs.
It will be for the greater good.

Ayup.

You either end up with a movie that is basically the game cutscenes in live action, a movie that shares the name and little else or a second rate Indiana Jones/National Treasure knock off.

Yes. A thousand times yes. Didn't actually think of him but now you mention him, I could see him being good as Drake.

Mind you, it doesn't matter anyway. Video game movies are almost always awful so I doubt I'll be going to see it. I'll probably just watch it when it comes on TV.

Cool, now you can bring your controller to the theater and have the same experience you can already have at home!

Sarcasm aside, that's fine I guess. Hollan seems like a pretty charismatic guy and should fit well into the dashing adventurer stereotype. Hope Uncharted fans enjoy the film, though I think it's just as likely this will fall prey to the typical video game movie trappings.

They already did the origin story (as good as it was going to get) in Uncharted 4. The other relevant details are given over the third and fourth game. Beyond that, I don't see much.

I like Nathan Drake, but I love Uncharted. I even enjoyed playing as teenage Nate, but that was for maybe 20-30 minutes. Because honestly, the most interesting character in Nate's backstory is Victor 'Goddamn' Sullivan and his dealings with Marlowe. Nate doesn't get interesting until much later, about the time he has his first adventure with Harry Flynn. Even then I still feel like Nate isn't as interesting as his supporting cast.

I also don't feel bad saying that I don't think he looks or sounds right for the role. Though full disclosure, I'm not optimistic about his portrayal of Spiderman either and I feel Nate and Spidey have the same "joker in the face of danger" archetype. Then again that could be because no-one will ever be Christopher Daniel Barnes' Spiderman...

Ditto. It's kinda like trying to make a gangster drama based on Grand Theft Auto. The Movie: The Game: The Movie.

Now, If somehow stars align in the right way we can possibly get another "Mummy" movie. But i don't count on that.

Probably comes down to them kicking it in the console-osphere that they think they can do the same on the big screen. Plus old Spider-Man.

I really think Tom Holland is way too good to play Nathan Drake and this will probably justifiably ruin his career.
